The perfect snow set-up for New Orleans
I have been amazed at the consistancy of runs that are trying to bring snow down to the Gulf Coast around Christmas.

Just remember that the models will go back and forth now till we are within a couple of days of the event. More or less the snow will probably shift from Houston over to the FL panhandle and back.
Either way most of you all still should see some snow down there along the gulf coast from Houston to the FL panhandle between now and Christmas.
BTW Chad will love my next post. Not sure about MF though.

Better watch what we wish for.
LOL The way it's looking after that front moves through Christmas Eve, the snow begins plus the winds. Talk about cold, snowing, and windy. A New Orleans kind of blizzard. All travel plans off to grannys or aunts house will be canceled for Christmas if this does occur.

Well it does'nt happen much, not much at all. You know how unusual snow is for the deep south. And the thing is, if we finally do get it into the forecast.............we've jinxed it. When we have snow forecast here, it almost always never happens. But when it is not expected, mother nature will slip it in on us...........

You are correct about the jinx of forecasting sneaux here in Louisiana. Here in Baton Rouge I can recall about 7 times it has sneauxed: 1968, 1973 (twice), 1977, 1979, 1985, 1988 (twice in three days), 1993, and 2001.
Only twice, the first sneaux of 1973 and the New Year's sneaux of 2001 was it ever forecasted. On the other hand many times it has been predicted and never panned out. The 1968 sneaux was over two days around March 19-20!

I'm praying we get a white Christmas. HOWEVER
as most of us do know..............we aren't equipped to handle it thus creating huge problems. Remember the ice storm? I for one had a fireplace installed following 5 days with no heat in an all electric home. I do have water stored but I will be sure to get more. I can live without the central unit now that I have a really good wood supply and maybe I'll go out tomorrow and get all of those propane tanks filled for cooking. We've had a considerable amount of rain & flooding around here so all I can think of is ice and power outages should a freezing event occur. I've never seen a white Christmas so this would certainly be a treat despite the potential downside to all this.
