This is from this the 11:25 AM AFD from Boston...

"The models go their separate ways on the development of the h500 long wave trough along the eastern seaboard, how much energy works off the mid Atlantic coast during Sunday night and Monday. Most do agree of rapid cyclogenesis off the North Carolina or Virginia coast Sunday night and Monday. Right now, it appears that this low, which the gfs deepens to a 972 hpa center well east of Cape Cod Monday night, remains outside the benchmark. Feel that the current forecast of chance conditions covers the situation well considering the low confidence on the model solutions at this time. Have kept likely pops for a short period on the east coast and Cape Cod Monday afternoon into early Monday night with closest approach of this low. Do expect strong northeast winds especially on Cape Cod and the islands late Monday and Monday night as the low deepens. "

I've seen many times when these systems go outside the benchmark of 40*N/60*W most of the major snows fall along the coastal sections while lesser amounts fall in the interior sections. This is just my 2 cents from my experience living up in that neck of the woods.
