Holiday Stress Has Come... and is About Gone :)

#1 Postby Guest » Fri Dec 17, 2004 6:51 pm

I love the holidays, and I don't love the holidays. I love when Dec 24 and 25 arrive, but the time leading up to it..................stress, stress, stress! :(

This year, we are going to St. Louis to visit my aunt and cousin, leaving Thursday, December 23.

Severals things are bothering me:

  1. Getting through work Saturday (8 hours) and Sunday (4 hours) in a grocery store.
  2. Time
  3. Dealing with a little fender-bender I had in a parking lot. The girl admitted fault and her insurance will pay for it, but still, having no vehicle until perhaps after we return from St. Louis is a little different.

Things will get better, but it is just that :red: time that seems to go slow that is in the way.

NEWeatherguy, you'll get through this.

In fact, this will be one of those things, years from
now, you'll wonder why you stressed about it.

Lots of work must happen before time off - that's just
a fact of life (as dicatated by the Boss).

Time - isn't after us....really. (*see lyrics "Same As It
Ever Was" by the Talking Heads)

Go and enjoy Christmas - let your insurance company
deal with the fender-bender. Rent a Jaquar - laugh at
other people - thumb your nose - enjoy!

Thanks, Breeze! Your first statement 99.9 % of the time comes to fruition. I have nothing to worry about when 99 times out of 100. I just have a mind that likes to dream about not so good "what ifs". It is amazing. :(

Thanks, Breeze! :D

Though I am only a 23 year old, I would have to agree with that! :) Wisdom through the years, which I am gaining right now, helps one to help another.

BTW, I am trying to make the best of the situation. Work is not the problem, really; it is just another hurddle. The main thing is the little bump in a parking lot. The young (probably high school) lady was apologetic (gave her a little hug), but WHY did it have to happen NOW!

Looking through my old posts on Storm2k is actually making the time fly. :D

Thanks a bunch for my weather buddies and buddettes that have responded and those that respond from here on out! :D

(((((HUGS))))) Brian :)

One time my folks and I in our car were backing out of our spot in a Pizza Hut parking lot (this was in Middletown, NY where we lived at the time) anyway this male employee (who was from Oklahoma and had recently moved to Middletown) was backing out of his spot at the same time...it was just one of those freakish things...fortunately no damage done to either our or his car bumpers...and we just ALL got out of our cars and chuckled after seeing no damage!

Glad to hear that you were able to give the young gal a (((hug))) to make her feel somewhat better after your fender meeting in the lot. Here's to the BEST on getting your car fixed, Bro! :)

Brian,

Sorry to hear that your down in the dumps Brother, it's tough this time of year. I know what your saying about the grocery business, I worked for a state wide chain for 20 years as a meat mgr until I retired in 1999, it is, by FAR, one of the MOST stressful jobs a person can have (at least in my opinion) especially during the holiday season  I've just now, after 5 years, have started to *kinda* enjoy the seasons, Thanksgiving "IS" the WORST. Thanksgiving, as you know, is when the industry does more business than ANY other time of the year COMBINED "and", it's when the industry LOOSES more money due to the "turkey ads" :grrr:

I fully understand your situation with the transportation issue also.....I used to *rag* on the elderly and their driving habits, since I've been a reserve peace officer, I've seen MORE accidents, fender benders by TEENS than the elderly.

Keep your chin up Brian, always remember, God NEVER gives us more than we can handle at one time, it's a test and ONLY a test!

When it rains, it pours and it's always worse around the holidays. Not having a car can make you feel like a caged animal. Enjoy your trip to your aunt's. It will get better!

:D :D :D

Well, done with my 8 hours shift (9am to 5:15 pm - let me go a little earlier). It went rather well.

Sunday, I only work 11am to 3 pm, and then I am off until the first day of 2005!! :D

About the little accident (if you want to call it that) things are improving. :D Thanks to my friend at S2K! :D

In addition, I have a little dentist appointment Tuesday.
