Assuming you are driving, you may be okay if you can get to San Antonio before Friday night. But like myself, do yourself a favor and really keep a close eye on this. Driving on ice is no fun at all. Very dangerous.

Oh, then I'm betting your fine. Planes can easily change their path to avoid bad weather. And it doesn't appear this will get cranking until Friday, if it does.

That's what I'm worried about. I'll be traveling from Atlanta to Greenville, SC on Friday. I'm also the person that has to execute the disaster recovery plan at the national support center I work at. I absolutely love snow, but this storm could make my xmas vacation hell. :x

What time Friday? Early will be a lot better.

Still a ways out there though. The storm could speed up or slow down or not affect that area at all.

Yeah, I'll be leaving early Friday, but this far out who knows what's going to happen. It's just making me nervous, but thanks to the people here and DT's page, I've at least been able to plan for the possibility. If I was believing the NWS, I'd have no worries now just to get caught way off guard early next week and have to go into full fledged panic mode.

Yep...I don't put all my faith in Peachtree City NWS. They completely BLEW the Ivan forecast....and so the schools opened that day. We had kids being dismissed early from school at the height of the storm. I've lived in the Metro ATL area since 1968. That's not the first one they've gotten wrong either.

Dont forget the icestorms last year, and the over 80 svr wx events over the years that they have blown. Including a week or two ago. And Lows this past Wednesday.

The only forecaster I trust from are office is Noel- AND HES A HYDROLOGIST!!!!!!!!

Having lived here 38 years (almost), you don't have to tell me about blown PTC NWS forecasts. I've lived through every single one since the '60's.

You know, I DO realize that they work hard and try to do a good job. I don't expect perfection from them 100% all the time...but I DO expect that they get the BIGGIE forecasts (ie, the ones that determine whether or not schools open, etc etc) right--if only occasionally.

I don't think that's asking much, do you?
