For anyone who cares. Nothing impressive though -- very small flakes coming down at a decent clip, some wind, no accumulation. Business as usual.
At least I'm finally not travelling when this stuff is going on. I headed back to MA on 12/6 -- first it was freezing rain, then heavy sleet, then in northern CT it changed to snow; 1/2-3/4 inch flakes coming down at a moderate rate with an inch of snow on the ground. Classic NE array of the elements -- just what I wanted to see. Then the next day I head to RI and it's freezing rain all morning...and then pouring rain across the entire MA turnpike for the rest of the day. The next week I head to Boston and it's pouring rain. Could I have some nice weather just one time?
Be heading back to Western MA on 12/21 for about 2 weeks and I'll drop reports if anything interesting happens. I've seen it all up there in the winter including thunder and lightning multiple times, although nothing big has happened around Christmas as long as I can remember.

If RI has gone all snow (radars showed rain earlier), then they are probably getting it worse than here.
But just to update what's going on here...after that burst of snow earlier, it kinda died down over the next hour. However, over the past 15 minutes things started picking up again and are now heavier than ever. Heavy 1/4-1/2 inch diameter, gust-whipped flakes...sidewalks almost completely covered over and one of the main avenues has only a thin center strip that isn't coated over.
It's actually coming down pretty damn good right now. I'm impressed. We might end up with a 2-3 inches if this keeps up for a while.
