If the 12z model is the latest run, it shows us right on the precip line with the freezing line right on the coast. This would at least give us some flurries and if some of that moisture comes a little further north (which is definately possible) we could be looking at a snow event. The storm still is there everybody we just need it to be a little further north!

When can we look for the models to have a fairly good handle on what to anticipate will happen??

It could be within a day of the event if not hours before until all the models grab one particular solution. We've seen winter storm and weather events b4 when that has happened. Only a slight jog further north and west in the precip shield could make all the difference in the world for houston and beaumont points east and northeast. But whatever were to fall XMAS eve for Houston and Beaumont would be in the form of snow with a mix bag right along the coast in Galveston and into the Freeport area.

Well I'm still looking forward to at least some flurries on Friday. I think a little more moisture might sneak in here than the GFS is showing. The rain event last week did not even show up on the GFS until 36 hours before anyway.
