Here goes:
"John and I have decided that we should not change anything about the forecast. I have outlined on tv a possible precip type scenario. Flurries far northshore and southwest mississippi. Snow, rain, sleet for rest of northshore and metro New Orleans. Rain at coast.
At this time, we are still calling for it to be light. Obviously, if the temperature profile changes then the type will have to be switched accordingly.
However, what I have not changed is that idea that a surface low will develop in the Western Gulf. With a progressive pattern in place, and a polar jet along the coast, this is the more likely scenario.
Therefore, the thinking of the past couple of days will stay in place.
For you model watchers, you can see that the 18z GFS is returning to its solution from the past couple of days after a couple of burps.
The much maligned ETA has been persistent with a progressive look, but it is very dry across our area with no rain or snow. This could very well happen.
The 18z GFS mos numbers show freezing rain/sleet and a temperature of 33 degrees during the day Friday.
As always, stay tuned."
