Please be careful....

I don't know if this should be in OT or not, but here goes.

Please use caution when venturing out on frozen waterways. I am cautious about things like this, but having children, I don't know if that is enough. I watch them like a hawk.

A local man, while intoxicated, ventured out on a local lake last night. They still haven't found him. If you live in an area where the lakes and ponds are prone to freeze, use extreme caution. Don't take any chances. Falling through ice makes it that much harder to get out, because not only is the water cold, but you will tend to have floated away from the break and not be able to surface because of being under the ice.

Sorry I missed this Anthony. You are so right about frozen lakes. I do not know anything about anything frozen being from the deep south, but I know enough not to venture out on to frozen lakes. Thanks for the heads up!!

Very good advice. I was just watching a show on tv the other day about several children that had ventured out onto river ice, fell through and the most of them ended up dying. Very, very sad. One guy said there really is no such thing as "safe" ice, especially ice on moving water like a river.

I lost a classmate, years ago, who fell through a
frozen pond. He did exactly as you said, Anthony,
by floating away from the break. I remember hearing
the grown-ups whispering that his parents were
probably in the house, drunk. I'm so glad that you
watch over your children so well!

Sorry, guys, for my outburst. I always get on Tom for doing that, but even I succumb to it every now and then.
