Gulf Coast Snow....
Admittedly, I am still skeptical on the snow chances down here. Go ahead and call me a stick in the mud. But, with climo against it, the models flip-floping more than John Kerry did (could not resist) and now a actual forecast of a possible snow event only reinforces my thought that this will be a bust just like the EC blizzard that was forecast a couple of years ago that never happened. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see big wet flakes falling out the sky come Friday. Like most of us down here I've never seen snow at Christmas. Sure it looks like it will be cold enough and odds are a low will form in the western GOM. But what track will the low take and will enough moisture be available for some decent flakes. Hope I am wrong but I'm saying no snow.....MGC

I agree. I noticed two or three days ago a certain hesitance in the Mobile and New Orleans NWS discussions with the extended forecast. They brought up the subject of the GFS trying to create a low in the Gulf and the surge of cold air coming down from Canada, but no mention of snow. More model runs were needed before going out on a limb, etc. You sure could tell what the were thinking and wondering though. Whenever they forecast snow in these parts, it almost never materializes. I look for the same this time. If the low does develop, and the cold air does get here, I can almost assure you that the precip will go around us to the south. Just watch!

Guess I'll wait up for Santa on Christmas eve and hope he brings a flurry or two with him
