Sleet / Ice Pellets In Pensacola
We've got ice pellets in Pensacola. I live by the airport.
The precip fell about an hour ago and is still sitting on the cars and in the valleys of rooftops. They are very well-formed pellets that are dry and uniform in shape. People from up North must think we are idiots down here to get excited about such things. If you're not from the South, you just don't understand!
Accumulation: 1/1000 of an inch!

I was born and raised in Tampa. We moved to Birmingham Thanksgiving day back in the 70's. Left Tampa in the afternoon 79 or 80 degrees. We're driving down the interstate between Montgomery and Birmingham and I start to see Flurries and I went crazy. My mama was in the back seat and she said it was bugs because my papa told her it never snowed in Birmingham. He knew she hated cold weather. My papa is in a truck ahead and he sees me bouncing up and down in the car while I was driving so he pulls over on the interstate and I pulled over and started dancing and jumping up and down like a crazy woman. We get into Birmingham and the cars have a couple of inches and the kids are making snow men. I'll never forget this eighty year old woman hit me with a snow ball and we had a blast pelting each other. The warmest clothing I owned was a shawl and none of us had coats. For three months my mother refused to leave the house.

The radar shows snow over us but it's just not hitting the ground,or it falls in the form of sleet instead of snow.

LOL! Great story! There's just something about picturing an 80-year old woman throwing snowballs that is hilarious!

I agree, many locations here in the panhandle are still in the upper 20's and the temps aren't going up.I would say our high today will be only around 35,maybe lower than that.

Hmm...I don't know, here in Pensacola we've had dry ice pellets,no freezing rain.If we get more rain I guess significant icing would be possible in some isolated areas.
