ACCUMULATING SNOW IN WEST HOUSTON!!!!!
Started out as light sleet and quickly changed to all snow. Has been coming down for about 10 mins and surfaces-all types- are beginning to accumulate snow. I would call the snow we are having currently moderate snow, but for a while we had heavy snow to the point you couldn't see more than a block clearly. Will try to get more pictures and upload some tonight.

Yes it is the first snow ever recorded in Houston on Christmas eve as far as I know. Now a light snow, but very heavy bands coming in from the SW all the way to B'ville. I may end up being close on what I told a coworker as I was leaving work. I said to her "we could end up with from 2"-4" from this if what I see getting ready to happen does come to fruition. What I was seeing was the radar staring to fill in to our SW and the obvious banding of the Low setting up and apparently setting up about 100 miles further N than expected. I may actually have a white Christmas, meaning it will actually drop a flake after midnight.

Some of the biggest snows here(and all unexpected) have come from upper level lows. I remember one dumped about 5" here in February 1998. It was raining the night before when I went to sleep.
In December 1997, a similar situation happened over in MS and West AL, completely unexpected.
They are called "Weatherman's woe" by mets around here.
Have fun and send me some.

Yep north and east!

Another nice looking band north of Victoria heading toward Houston.
Two stations in Northern Mexico reporting snow....so there's still more to come.

Digital camera is ready to go during the next few hours. This is really going to occur. The radar show a large area of snow moving into SE TX with more development around Corpus Christi. Kat Daddy is truley hyped at this point. Thought it would never happen. It wont be much but much more than I ever expected.......and that I can enjoy.
