TRAVEL IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED IN HOUSTONG AND GALVESTON AREAS OVERNIGHT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATEENING WINTER STORM!!!!

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FOR LOCATIONS GENERALLY ALONG AND
SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 10 THROUGH 7 AM CST...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LEAGUE CITY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING FOR AREAS MAINLY SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 10 IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS.
THE WARNING WILL BE IN EFFECT THROUGH 700 AM CST SATURDAY MORNING.

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL CROSS THE REGION TONIGHT AND RESULT IN
MODERATE TO OCCASIONALLY HEAVY SNOW. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 3 AND
5 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. TEMPERATURES IN
THE UPPER 20S AND A BRISK NORTH WIND WILL ALSO MAKE CONDITIONS MORE
HAZARDOUS. THE SNOW WILL BEGIN TO DIMINISH TOWARD SUNRISE.

TRAVEL WILL BECOME QUITE TREACHEROUS AND IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED.
MANY ROADWAYS...BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES WILL ICE OVER AND THEREFORE
CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS.

CONDITIONS CAN DETERIORATE RAPIDLY IN WINTER WEATHER SITUATIONS, SLOW
DOWN AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME WHEN TRAVELING. PRACTICE YOUR WINTER
SAFETY RULES, KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT, FOOD, AND WATER IN YOUR CAR
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.

latest reports

HOBBY: 30 light snow, visibility 8 miles
Galveston: 33 light snow. Rain has changed over to snow in Galveston in the last hour
Victoria: 1/4 mile visibility in heavy snow and freezing fog, 28 degrees
Bay City: 30 degrees heavy snow and freezing fog. Visibility 1/2 mile.

Folks living between Houston and Galveston are strongly encouraged to stay off the roads overnight as this storm continues to rage on. A winter storm warning is in effect for Corpus Cristi, Victoria, Houston, and Galveston. In this corridor a general 3-6" of snow will fall with locally higher amounts expected, This is an historic event for folks along the Texas coastal bend. Again stay off the roads tonight PERIOD. Some roads including route 219 in southeast Texas are shut down due to this severe winter weather event. Wait until morning after daybreak to even think about making a trip on the roads and enjoy the white xmas, the first in history for Houston.
