Just posted it myself on another thread. It's light rain and 34 now. The sleet in the street is now just wetness, but I've still got a bunch on my deck not melted. I really need to go to sleep because I've been up since 5. The kids' presents are all under the trees, and the clues for their goose chase to find their new computer have been strategically planted. But just like hurricane season, I guess I live on adrenaline and alcohol when there's interesting weather. At some point I'm going to try to catch and hour or two since tomorrow is busy, wintry weather or not. But for now, I wait in vigil, not only for Christmas but for a hopefully white Christmas :)

I'm also sitting here waiting lol. The precip we need for a white Christmas is so close, I just hope it makes it here. Check out the echoes coming ashore:

LOL it sure is agonizing. But that's a solid looking precip shield coming ashore and it's aimed right for me. I'll keep waiting until it gets here but if I don't see flakes I'm going to bed, sleet gets old fast lol.

Gimme a sleet-check ktulu. We need to hook up for a cold one sometime.

>>sleet gets old fast lol.

Sleet is killer during the daytime, but it ain't much to see at night. Tick-tickety-tick-tick-tick. Got a little break here right now. If I had any sense I'd crash for 2 hours and wake up around 5. But since I don't want to even miss any radar re-loads, I'm up for a while. LMAO. Plus, this is my first 'official' white Christmas /remembering childhood 20+ years ago ;)

It could be interesting if the temperature can get a little lower before dawn. We've got a shot for some changeover. SE Texas got the kill shot today, and good for them. They had to sweat out the gulf low more than anyone - would it form too far east, south, or whathave you. I don't expect any winter storm warnings here, but I'll take what I can get in snow be it only a tenth of an inch. Afterall, sleet rules but it still bows to snow.

It is only very cold rain here. VERY light. I called for our temperature. It is only 30. Why is it not snowing? I am so disappointed. I stayed up until 2 A.M. trying to watch from the window until I started to doze off. Is there any chance I will change over to snow? I live 40 miles inland.

If it's 30 and raining, then it's freezing rain. It means in the upper atmosphere only the surface is below freezing. All layers have to be below freezing to support snow. If the mid layer is above, but the lower level is below, you get sleet because it doesn't have time to become snow again.
