WINTER STORM WARNING FOR NEW ORLEANS

#1 Postby WXBUFFJIM » Sat Dec 25, 2004 11:53 am

A winter storm warning is in effect for the greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas effective until 4 PM CST. Black ice is causing road closures in many locations throughout the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas. Significant ice accumulation is likely to cause more road closures throughout the afternoon. Travel is strongly discouraged throughout the afternoon in eastern and southeastern Louisiana. Don't even venture out in this. There's no need to drive in this stuff. Snow is likely this afternoon in these areas also.

There is also a sleet advisory in Mobile in effect until 4:30 PM CST. Sleet has accumulated in and around the Mobile area and thgat can prove dangerous for drivers, especially on bridges and overpasses. Don't venture out in this during the afternoon as we're talking a dangerous situation on the roads.

Hi, Jim. It is sleeting pretty heaving now. Still, never changed over to snow. My car is covered in ice. We are going to be leaving soon for Thibodaux ( 10 minutes away) to my grandpa's house for lunch and to spend the day with all my many aunts, uncles and cousins.
