Had myself a Very White Christmas

#1 Postby cajungal » Sat Dec 25, 2004 6:27 pm

The sleet turned over to all snow as we were sitting down for lunch around 12:30 in Thibodaux. It snowed heavily off and on all day. It would get very heavy then stop for 30 minutes and stop. But, it went on almost all day. I just got back home to Schriever about 9 miles away. It looked liked it snowed even more here than in Thibodaux. My yard looks like a winter wonderland. We have an inch. Maybe a bit more on the ground. It is still sleeting as I type this. Very lightly now. My yard is covered. I was so happy that I almost cried as the snow was coming down. This was the best Christmas gift I ever could of received.

It was sleeting at my sister's house over in Baldwin County around 2 pm and changed over to light snow about an hour later. I was driving back to my house in Mobile, and ran through some pretty heavy sleet. Got home and there's maybe 1/4 inch of sleet/snow on the ground here. Maybe we'll get a little more before it all heads east.

It was a Merry Christmas. :D

Great thread. This was a very memorable Christmas for me. It goes down in the record books as the most bizarre. I wasn't even cold half the time I was standing out in whatever wintry mix was headed my way. Cheers to all!

It was so much fun to see the excitement of my younger cousins ages ranging from 13 to 2 years old. They never saw snow before in there entire lives. The 2 year olds did not know what it was but had a blast playing in it. They threw tantrums when their parents brought them inside. My 6-year old cousin was having the time of his life. We even had enough for snowball fights and to make frosty. Christmas 2004 will be on to remember and be in the record books for a long time.

My family and I had a blast. We will never forget Christmas, 2004.
We played in the snow and built a snowman and all I kept saying was, "snowing on Christmas day, this is unbelieveable."
YES , we had a white Christmas here in New Orleans, truly a dream come true!!! :P

Yesterday I spoke to neighbors who I'd never met. I tossed them a snowball and went in the house before they could toss one back at me.

Wow - that's awesome for you all in Louisiana!! I'm really glad you had a white Christmas. That will be a very special memory for years to come. :)

Amazing though that it snowed to my west and snowed to my east...what luck. I guess I'm snow-repellant. :(

ROFLMAO @ Cajunmama!!!!!! Know what you mean!!!

We managed maybe an 1/8" accumulation at our house between sleet and snow. There was white stuff on the cars and roof on the 25th so we had an official semi-white Christmas. Really makes one mad though when if you lived 30 miles further South you would have 10" of snow on the ground. Ah well, I did have two very excited adult kids romping around like little ones on Christmas eve and it was fun to watch. Both were here for the 1989 snow, but do not remember it.

I'm glad you got some snow, and like you we had about 1" on the ground at my house, but if you went like 15 to 20 min. north you got about 2 to 4 inches. I said the heavest snow would be to the S of Houston but I was expecting about 3 to 6 inches at the most. :D

The wintery precip will return for you before this winter is over!!

That repeat is almost a given with the patterns we are seeing. And with us seeing it this early in the winter, it makes it even more likely!!! It is all at one time very exciting and very scary!! Exciting due to the fact we we will probably see some significant snow/winter precip this winter. Scary because we could also see a bad ice storm and the fact there isn't anyone in Houston who knows how to drive in it(snow or ice)!!

What? You think we have a shot at snow again? I am SO HAPPY for those who got to play in the snow last week, but I still want my turn badly. ;)
