So when is the next time it is going to snow in Houston? I want some more! Its like a drug, and now I am addicted! I know the winter isnt over and we have 2 months left! Does anyone think we are going to get some more snow? Maybe this time the Houston area will get more than the areas south of here!

January,I notice that most of these southern winter storms occur mostly in January.We'll see I hope I see some snow here in Pensacola soon,I can't believe I didn't get any in the past 2 days.

I wouldn't rule anything out... but the odds have to be extremely small. Even here we usually only get snow once or twice a year.

I would suggest moving north.

Yes, Just an amazing site to see snow everywhere in New Orleans. It came down hard to awhile.

I hope we get another shot at some snow! I should have a better chance than Brownsville or Corpus Christi, normally. I missed out this round and I want to build a snowman like the gazillion ones I've seen in pics and on TV the last few days. When the snow started falling and it looked like tons more on the way, I was so excited. I'm not quite sure why it never got here but although seeing it fall on Christmas Eve was nice, it was also very disappointing to see how little it turned out to be and no white Christmas here.

With that said, I'm THRILLED for everyone who got snow...I know you enjoyed that rare treat!

I doubt it will snow again this winter. I mean, when was the last time it snowed in Houston? Now narrow it down and ask when was the last time it snowed in Houston twice? Maybe 100 years ago.

I don't think it will snow again in Houston this winter or for us here in southeast Louisiana either. The ingredients have to be just right for a gulf coast snow event. The temperature has to drop below freezing and a Low has to form in the gulf, so we can get the moisture. I would not rule anything out at this point. But, chances are slim to see snow twice in one winter here. I just hope it does not take another 15 years to happen again though.

There MAY be another chance in Late JAN, or FEB, but this time probably further east along the gulf coast.

There was one winter during the 70's( I can't remember the specific year) where the gulf coast, Houston to New Orleans, had multiple winter weather events. The second winter weather event, if it does occur, wont be anytime soon as the trough is locked out west for the next couple weeks.

The mid and latter part of January into February should be quite wintry for the southern plains and the east, particularly the east in February. Until then, it'll be a spring weather pattern in the southern plains. Yes, that means the possibility of severe weather with tornadoes. I'd bet a lot of money Tornado Watches will be issued in Texas before the next Winter-Storm watch is issued this coming January. Looks like a repeat of January 79 to me.

just going with trends i'd guestimate no more snow for Houston if i was making a bet, but anything could happen.

Well thats a very good question, and here's my take on it. I think what we saw between the 23rd and 26th will play out again by mid January only this time for a longer period of artic cold (highs in the mid 20's for the northern part of TX and around 32 for the southern part of TX) lasting at least 5 to 7 days with a good chance for snow across much of the state of TX.

The reason for the longer period of cold will be do to a stronger Rex Block over the Pacific coast and a more wide spread snow pack over the Northern U.S. (We will see the McFarland Effect again).

I also believe that this may be the pattern for the rest of winter, a very cold period followed by a warm up and then another very cold period that will bring heavy snow across the Midwest and Tenn/Ohio Valley as well as the deep south and Northeast with waves of low presure coming out of the Rockies to the north and upper lows forming in the GOM and working along the Southern Coast.

Winter has only started and much of Texas has already seen some snow, and it won't be the last either.

I couldn't believe it when I drove off the ferry last night and onto the island! I must have seen at least 20 snowmen in people's yards along my less-than-one-mile drive to my house. And we're not just talking snowmen made from three neatly stacked rolled up balls of snow. I mean, all decked out with scarves, hats, buttons, carrot noses, eyes, smiles, etc. Full-fledged, done up right snowmen. And some, standing next to palm trees.

Don't be depressed, cheer up a NEW YEAR is coming and I have been pretty darn good with my forecast so far .

It was nice to see the snow we got here in NTX last Wednesday (1 inch at my house ), The Gulf Coast got way more than we did and I'm glad because it's not very often for that to happen, and I feel really good about it happing again before this winter is done.

Well maybe it will snow more here in the Houston area this time instead of points south of me! I just think it has been such an odd year for the Victoria and El Campo area, a few months ago they had that flooding where it hasnt flooded in 25 years, and now they get hit with a winter storm and a white Christmas! What are the odds! What a wild and crazy year it has been for them! Not to mention hurricane free... Go Figure!
