Miss Nude World Pageant May Draw 10,000 Spectators

POSTED: 10:06 a.m. EDT April 16, 2003

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Miss Nude World pageant, planned at a strip club north of the city in October, isn't the kind of event city convention officials say they generally would endorse.

But organizers say the contest, featuring up to 75 exotic dancers from around the world, could draw up to 10,000 spectators to the area.

"I guess anything that has a potential to bring outside visitors to town is somewhat positive," said Greg Edwards, president of the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The contest, which in recent years has been held in Atlanta and Miami, will be held Oct. 20-25 at the Lumber Yard strip club. The winner gets $10,000.

"In our industry, this is the biggest event in the world," said Mike Kent, the Lumber Yard's manager.

I like to bring the important isues to you LOL

In Japan

#11 Postby azskyman » Wed Apr 16, 2003 11:26 pm

True. Cross my heart true.

I heard recently that there was a Mr. Nude something or other in Japan a few months back.

Thousands of people showed up to watch.

More than 200 of the spectators got so sick they had to be treated by medical staff.

Hope they have a medical tent set up for the spectators....

along these same lines....I happened to be scanning the HBO channels recently and there was this show on called "Naked America" I think it was called. Anyway....this "episode" focused on what appeared to be thousands of people, men and woman, getting naked and lying side by side, endless rows of naked people as far as the eye could see. Why were they doing this? Aside from the obvious reason of getting to lie naked next to somebody besides your spouse, they were protesting something. It's amazinf what the police will put up with when the protestors are naked. I just had to laugh.

BTW, for those who do not win the title, each contestant will receive a complimentary box of toiletries and personal care products from "Canal No. 5" (since the promoters support the "Made in France" boycott).

And the winner of the "Miss Congenitality" title will receive, in addition, and all-expenses-paid stay at the prestigious Mayo Clinic.
