Hello, I have been registered here for awhile, but just lurking. I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 47 yrs. old and from Huntington, IN. I have been a hobbyist for a few years, but have no meteorology education other than some advanced storm spotter classes From NWS and Dr. Arnold at Ball State University.
Until recently, most of my info came from NWS. Since I have discovered these boards, I have become fascinated with medium- and long-range forecasting, rather than just looking at my backyard weather station!
I have been posting a little at WWBB, but I get the impression that if you're not a professional met, they don't want to hear from you. I like the mix on this board better. At least the mets and others who know what they are talking about are nice to those of us who don't know the difference between a EPO and an NAO.
Anyway, I look forward to lurking and learning, and may occasionally throw my 2 cents worth in, especially concerning OV and GL weather (my back yard).

Thank You
Thank you all for your warm welcome. Now, let's get over this warm weather hump (early January thaw?) and hopefully by early next week have some real winter weather to discuss!
BTW, north central Indiana is currently experiencing dense fog from melting snowpack. I'd rather drive in a blizzard than this crap. Hopefully will get some mixing from the approaching shortwave and clean things up by later this afternoon.

Think about this. Here in Corpus it was 25 degrees with 6 inches + snow on the ground at my house Christmas morning. Yesterday we were 79 degrees with bright sunshine. Talk about a week of extremes!

Winter, come back!

Hey vbhoutex,
I didn't mean to steal your avatar. I was just playing around trying to figure out how to put one up. I just used it since I am a trained spotter. When I find another one I like, I will change it.

No need to change it. We have quite a few trained Skywarn spotters on the site.
