"NOT AGAIN!"

#1 Postby azsnowman » Thu Dec 30, 2004 7:11 pm

"Aaaauuuuugh!" ENOUGH is ENOUGH :grrr: MORE friggin' RAIN is in the FORECAST....what happened to WINTER SNOWS? :grrr: I know, I know, I SHOULD be GRATEFUL for the moisture BUT...the RAIN does almost NOTHING for the drought, it all RUNS OFF and the ground is SO saturated right now from the 5.32" of rain we received yesterday, the system for Mon-Thurs is ALL RAIN :na:

Yeah when the ground is so dry and hard, the rain just runs off and has no time to saturate in. In Ohio, if you walk on the ground now, its just like walking in muck.. its all squisky and nasty. We had a very wet summer plus Frances and Ivan with almost 15" to 20" of rain in 9 days. Watch out for the flooding!

TUS is saying that this next system will be colder than the last one so there's a difference of opinion.

I heard on the weather channel that rain with change to snow in salt lake city after the new year, will that translate further south to where you are Dennis? Best wishes.

Yup....FLAG is starting to *hint* at a *slight introduction of colder air* on Monday night, however, we have to get through this next trough (tonight thru Saturday night) before the possible cold air invasion, at least this trough is weak with very little moisture to work with.

Ohiostorm, the areas hardest hit day before yesterday haven't seen substantial rainfall in 9 YEARS, those areas received over 2" of rain, the ground is so hard, so powder dry, hence the reason for the massive flooding.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FLAGSTAFF AZ
330 PM MST SAT JAN 1 2005

...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FLAGSTAFF HAS ISSUED A FLASH
FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY NIGHT TO TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THE
WATCH INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES..
IN NORTHEAST ARIZONA
SOUTHWESTERN NAVAJO

IN EAST CENTRAL ARIZONA
NORTHERN GILA

IN WEST CENTRAL ARIZONA
YAVAPAI

IN NORTH CENTRAL ARIZONA
SOUTHERN COCONINO

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE DOWN THE WEST COAST AND WILL SLOWLY
MOVE INTO NORTHERN ARIZONA GENERATING WIDESPREAD RAIN AND HIGH
ELEVATION SNOW FROM LATE SUNDAY INTO TUESDAY. THIS STORM WILL
BRING HEAVY PRECIPITATION TO THE MOGOLLON RIM...AND AREAS WEST AND
SOUTH...WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY MOUNTAIN SNOWFALL. TOTAL
PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS IN THE WATCH AREA ARE EXPECTED TO EXCEED 1
INCH IN MOST LOCATIONS...WITH SOME AREAS SURPASSING 2 INCHES. MUCH
OF THE WATCH AREA HAS ALREADY SEEN HEAVY RAINS IN THE PRECEDING
WEEK. WITH THE GROUND IN THESE AREAS STILL VERY SATURATED AND
CERTAIN CREEKS AND STREAMS RECOVERING FROM PREVIOUS FLOODING...THE
ANTICIPATED PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BE VERY EFFICIENT AT
GENERATING POTENTIAL FLOODING. BY WEDNESDAY...RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS
