VERY Dangerous Out There...

#1 Postby nystate » Sun Jan 02, 2005 11:27 am

Roads here are completely iced over. I was on my way home from church earlier today and was involved in a weather-related accident. I was approaching an intersection when the car started sliding, and the brakes wouldn't work. I turned the wheel to try to avoid the car in front of me, but we still hit. Thankfully the damage was light, but I saw numerous other accidents on the drive home. Stairs and sidewalks are iced over as well.

Currently there is freezing rain and the temperature is 28F.

State police are announcing no unneccessary travel throughout the county. All fire and EMS are busy, and SMC (the hospital here) is on read stat (every bed is full).

From another forum-

The scanner is going crazy. Right now 4 car accident on Washington St, roll-over on 81, and cars off the road all over the place. Please be very careful if you go out!

All fire and ems are busy right now. MVA on Drum too.

According to NewZjunky Police agencies have announced no unnecessary travel in Jefferson County and SMC is in RED STAT.
