I love snow, but despise ice. Power outages, no thanks.

Yeah, a winter storm watch just went up in my area (Falcon, Colorado) for this same event. I too love all sorts of severe weather ... even winter snow events are fun. But not ice. I don't like ice in the least bit.

Long time...no see, Beam!

My Dad called my paternal grandfather this evening...who lives in east-central Indiana (he's 90 yrs-old)...anyway, me being the weather geek in our whole family (Dad's side and Mom's side)...Grandpa was grateful to us for passing along info to him about the potential ice storm for his state as he had not heard a forecast about this scenario!

KC is under an ice storm warning from tomorrow PM until Wed PM. We could get an inch of ice. This is starting to scare me.

Kristi:

I her ya-this storm, if it verifies like it is now, could be much worse than 2002-I checked my batteries tonight and got my radio ready-I have freezing drizzle now and am colder than I have been since x-mass morning!! I'm at 30.5 currently.

Wnghs2007:

Man, to be honest, I want this storm to verify-it has been so long since we have had a severe winter event-2002 was incredible, but it never stuck to the roads and never got that cold-I was w/out power for 5 days and to be honest had a ball!! But this looks to be truly one for the ages-one like we haven't seen in a decade or more. The problem is, I still have a gut feeling that tomorrow, it will all shift North or South like it usually does. I don't want damaged property etc. but man if we are going to get a quater of an inch or something, lets go all the way and have the whole city shut down for 3 days!!!! Flame me for this, but I have been waiting to get a severe winter event for 11 years-last real kahuna was during the 1992-1993 winter. 2002 was severe-I lost trees power whole 9 yards-but it was 35 the next day and no snow-this looks to be the real deal-and yes very serious if you don't take precautions

im not sure how exciting it would be to be sitting in a house with no electricity for a week and its 20 degrees outside. ill take warmth any day. rain that freezes is just destructive, while snow can be quite beautiful. stay safe in any event

I'd take a cold rain over ice if that was my choices. A cold rain is MISERABLE too. 33 and rain and knowing 40 miles to your north it's snowing hurts.
