Is it too late to become a fan of Lost?

#1 Postby Miss Mary » Mon Jan 03, 2005 10:27 pm

I keep hearing how Lost is another must-see TV show. Possibly more so than Desperate Housewives.

So let's pose a question to Lost fans....if a person were to jump in now, would that new fan be so confused, it's not worth the effort?

Wish they had ran a repeat marathon over the holidays or something...but then would I have had the time to watch it? Probably not!

Thanx.

Hey, when does it air? :-)

That's opposite That 70s Show, probably why we passed on it this past Fall. We can always tape one. Are you a big fan of Lost Brent?

We had a small party before xmas. Several guests were talking about Lost, saying it's the best new show this year. They talked it up so much, I've been wanting to check it out ever since. Then another guest said - did you hear about the newest show, Who's Your Daddy? I swear, I thought he was joking.....yes we all had a few drinks in us. Turns out there really is a silly show called that!!!

Haven't watched it at all. I might give it a try. Only thing I watch on Wednesdays is Wife Swap(10pm ABC).

Who's Your Daddy premiered tonight on FOX...

Miss Mary, my family and I absolutely LOVE Lost...it is a very good show. You never know what is going to happen. They did run the first four hours last week, so you missed them, but I am sure they will play them again.

The story line is that this plane crashed 1000 miles off course and so no one is looking for them where they are. There is some kind of "thing", evidently, that lives on the island. They flash back to different people and what they did before they got on the plane and why they are the way they are.

I think you could start watching and pick up on it in a few weeks...if you have certain questions I can answer them for you. One interesting thing is the guy that is named Locke, older man that is sort of the co leader with the young guy that is the doctor, when it showed his past he was wheelchair bound. I don't know why, I didn't catch that when they did his flash backs..well anyway he now walks...don't know why...he just does.
He played the CAG (Commander of the Air Group) on Jag for a while with HARM and then he was an Admiral in another episode.

Mary! Thanks so much for the background info. And figures they would air the first 4 episodes last week. Always a day late and a dollar short....LOL

Didn't someone go into labor on the island? Thought I saw promo's for that a few weeks ago. The plot does sound intriquing, very different from Survivor. Although at first it sounded similar to that show. Now I realize it's fiction, with a twist. With something living on the island, could this be sci-fi meets drama?

Thanks again!

Yes a girl did go into labor, now she is missing, and yes it is a sci-fi drama...you don't really know what the "thing" is that lives on the island and there is some sort of supernatural type powers around, or so it seems to me. You never know what is going to happen next, you have to watch each week, cause your (or we are) hooked. If we are not going to be home we have to tape it.

Start watching, you will love it!

I watched one episode before the holiday break...the one where the pregnant girl is running through the woods and thinks someone/something attacked her but everyone thinks she was dreaming or something like that. I was "LOST" but it was still good. I was watching with someone who had been watching from the beginning and they were feeding me info though. Anyway, I watched the reruns over the holidays and now I'm pretty much up to speed. The show is great! What gaps there were have been filled in by others. If you want to start watching, I suggest finding their website and catching up as much as possible so you won't be "lost" - it's a fascinating show IMO.

I want that doctor to rescue me! :)

Here you go Miss Mary and others who want to catch up or if you missed an episode or two.

http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/episod ... -05/1.html

Edit: Btw, I think they showed more than just 4 hours because I read the episodes from the link above and I've seen through episode 8. I know they were showing 2 hours each time, but I didn't think it was for 4 weeks. Heck, I don't know but glad to know that I've only missed 3 episodes and now I've read everything significant from those.

Mary...Kathy and I are LOST fans this year. There is usually a respectable recap of the events leading up to the current show before the new one starts.

I'd say it is worth watching at any point. The character studies are what draw me to it...more than the story line. It's a study of each of the passengers who survived the crash and who they were, why they were on the plane, in the first place.

A nice twist on the Survivor scene in that the interaction (or lack of it) between people is what keeps it interesting.

Good luck diving in if you decide to tackle it.

I am saving it on my DVR tonight since I'll be working til 8...but I'll watch it before calling it a day.
