Wintry Weather following my every move

#1 Postby PurdueWx80 » Tue Jan 04, 2005 3:07 pm

I should never get to complain about missing out on severe winter weather ever again. One day after I arrived home for Christmas break, we get 15" of snow at my parent's house. This weekend I traveled to Madison, WI for New Year's - lo and behold, they got 1/4 - 1/2" of freezing rain. I get back here to Lafayette, and now I'm expecting 1 to 2 inches of solid glazed ice by Thursday morning. This winter weather better not follow me out to San Diego for the AMS meeting on Friday. I need a break!

LOL...It's funny, I'm complaining about snow and ice, and you guys think the 70-degree weather is bad...I wouldn't mind switching!

Seriously, come down and chase away the muggy, near 80's. It is January, and even in Texas it shouldn't be this warm. Okay, yes, I am near throwing a temper tamtrum, but it is not funny anymore. Running the A/C in January. Yes I am whining.

Here we go again...I've been in Madison for 2 days, and BAM!

It's snowing moderately now with several inches of light fluffy snow on the ground. The heaviest should be here in a couple of hours, and I think we'll see a solid 10" with perhaps a foot in a few locations, especially closer to Lake Michigan. Actually Milwaukee and Chicago could see 12-16" by tomorrow evening once some rare "west coast" (of L.Michigan) Lake Effect kicks in.

While there are numerous blizzard warnings in the Dakotas and MN, it looks like the strongest winds will stay to south of here, so I guess we are lucky in that sense. Still, they'll be gusting from 20-30 mph by tomorrow, so I imagine there'll be drifts in a few places up to 2 or 3 feet.

Any other requests...so far my imaginary trip will take me from Madison to Kansas City, from there I'll head down to the Houston area, then head east on I-10 and eventually up towards Atlanta. Shall I head back to the Midwest then, or would anyone in FL/SC/NC like in on the action? :)

Generally speaking, if one heads east from Houston on I-10, bound for Atlanta, they don't have a choice but to pass through Alabama first, Brent.

I don't want it to snow in MOBILE and not here. :grr:

To get to Atlanta from I-10, coming from Houston, you have to take I-65 to I-85. That goes right past you, Brent.
