Some of the heaviest snow I have ever seen...

#1 Postby PurdueWx80 » Sat Jan 08, 2005 3:59 am

It started flurrying (is that even a word?) around 11:30 p.m. , and now it is nearly over. By midnight it was snowing heavily, and by 12:30 it was the heaviest snow I have ever seen. The visibility was barely greater than zero...and this was just walking. I can't even imagine how horrible the roads were. We have at least 5 inches here...on top of the ice from a couple of days ago. A report from a NWS employee from the Northern IN office has indicated more than 3 inches in one hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can confirm heavy snow from a phone call from my brother who lives in Frankfort, In. He said it was nasty.

Yes. This surprise storm hit St. Louis last evening, dropping anywhere from 3 to perhaps 6+ inches of snow across tje area. The snow lasted only about 4 hours. The snowfall rate was abou 2 inches per hour at times here.

KEWL! I'm at OVER 50% of my yearly total thus far, we've had OVER 65" and yet ANOTHER system for Mon night into Weds....could be a RECORD breaking year (too bad it doesn't do TOO much for the drought!)

Thanks! I realize that Atlanta isn't exactly snow-capital of the world, and we're never going to have big numbers for seasonal totals...but we Atlantans really, really look forward to the one or two winter weather events that (usually) come our way each year.

Should have seen how we reacted during Superstorm! What a blast! Of course, I probably won't ever see snow like that here again in my lifetime. Wish I had pictures. It was fun.

Well, here's to hoping. Crossing fingers! :cheesy:
