W13- There will no accumulating snow in the Seattle area today. You will not get that inch.

I don't live in Seattle, I live on the East Hill of Kent.

33 F with a Dew Point of 36 F with showers heading our way = Snow

A few, quick observations about the latest forecast models...

1. The arctic air in British Columbia looks like it'll make it closer to Western Washington...with a strong Frazer outflow, I wouldn't be surprised if Tuesday/Wednesday were very cold.

2. Once the western trough slides east, a ridge of high pressure will encompass all of the West...BUT...it's not as amplified as was the case yesterday. 500 mb thicknesses are only at 534.

3. Models show NO MAJOR arctic outbreak for the entire country in the next two-three weeks. That's pretty sad considering it's now January...probably the coldest month of the year.

Guys... come on.

Kent has no snow. Look at the hundreds of web cams. Stanwood yes... Lynnwood yes... Kent no.

Second... the "showers" on the radar are not making it east. We have east winds through the Puget Sound again this morning.

Thats means NO precipitation around Seattle and points south and east... like Kent.

W13 - You will be very frustrated watching the radar this morning. Just like last night.

I highly doubt Bellingham will see 38 degrees today like King 5 says, with them at 24 right now with the snow on the ground. They are also saying mid 40's next week, watch there forecasts turn colder once again. One more week of this round of winter its looking like 8-)

By Friday we are sitting with 500 mb heights of 5580... under a HUGE high pressure from Alaska to Baja.

That is NOT cold for January.

I trust TRENDS.

The trend has been for high pressure building in this week. The last 20 runs or so... so I pretty much believe high pressure will be building in this week.

So TT, no snow in Kent right now and no more snow the rest of the day/weekend huh? WRONG! We have a Quarter inch on the ground, and it is just beginnining to lightly snow at 33 F with a Dew Point of 26 F. This is not where the web cams are, since we are in unincorporated King County, on the East Hill of Kent but pretty much at the highest elevation on the hill (800+ feet).

Look at Kiro 7's Radar, it now shows precip moving across the sound. Well, well, well ... I wonder what you will say next to try and dampen our spirits.

I think those predictions will hold. True, it doesn't look like we will have an extended period of cold and snow, but it does look like until about next weekend, we have cold temperatures and several chances for snow.

Plus who cares about the week after next, as long as we see another shot of winter next week! 8-)

Also PNA to be negitory until the 15th, so things still looking good for next week.

Typically we see a wild transition from cold to warm, so it should be interesting!

We have ONE chance of snow this week. That is on Tuesday and nothing major. Then its all uphill from there. We will not be talking about snow for quite some time. Well maybe you guys will... even when its 55 degrees and raining with a snow level at 8,000 feet.

I just cannot get excited about a "quarter of an inch of snow" or even an inch.

I want a foot.

And there will be no accumulating snow in Kent today. Stop making something out of nothing.

Even if we get a ridge in here in a couple of weeks, this time of the year often time we get quite an inversion, so even though its warm high up, we stay in the upper 30's at the most.

Don't think we will be seeing 55 degrees for a while.

We already had accumulating snow today, so stop trying to say we haven't. Maybe not in downtown Kent, but on the east Hill of Kent, yes we have had accumulating snow and it is lightly snowing right now. Quit trying to deny it because North Bend isn't getting any precip or whatever.

Ahhh... very true about the inversion.

Except east and away from the water. Like in North Bend. For example... we were at 55 degrees with total sunshine last week (on 12/28) when Seattle was socked in with fog and 38 degrees.

If we have no chance of snow or even rain... why would you want to be stuck under an inversion with cold, soupy air?? You guys cheer for even that kind of cold weather?? That stuff sucks.

Why not have sunshine??

I like storms... I like rain... I like snow... I like sunshine.

I hate cold, hazy, fog. Plus the air quality gets really bad in that situation.

There will be no more accumulating snow in Kent today.

And we had a dusting here as well. But its not going to snow any more today. Not on this side of Seattle.
