Yes... the humidity and bugs in Minnesota are horrible.

We are very glad to be in the Pacific Northwest.

My wife kept asking me... why in the hell do you want snow??

TT-SEA,

Wow, you're a real pessimistic person. Are you like this with everything? Can't stand pessimistic people. Currently 28 F with clear skies...dewpoint VERY low, 18 F. East wind still constant. Don't expect much precip tonight, but whatever falls with be in the form of snow.

Looks like a pretty solid band of precip over northern Oregon, which may swing up this way!

Winter is not over tim! :) We will have more COLD spells. Just not right now. On the flip side...we like hearing what you have to say.

In the short term...maybe some more showers coming up from the Portland OR area later on tonight or early wee hours of after mid-night. http://radar.wrh.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS ... krtx.shtml. Hmmm...maybe more snow for us 8-)

How long have you been here TT? Were you here for the big storms of '90, or '96?

Does anyone know the exact setups for the major outbreaks in December 1990 and December 1996? One meteorologist said the reason why arctic air didn't filter through Western Washington was because the surface low off the south Washington coast was TOO STRONG!!! Yet if it wasn't strong enough, that wouldn't work either. What's the deal? Someone give me some insite about the 1990, 1996 storms.

I have lived here all my life, since 1976. The more memorable winters would be, early eightys I think '83, 'Nov 85 that was awesome, it lasted a long time, Jan-March of '89 very cold, Lake Goodwin froze solid, people waking, riding bikes, skating across it. 'Dec 1990 was also very cold and snowy. winter of 92-93 cold with several snowy weeks. Fall of 95 several severe windstorms. Jan-Feb '96 Cold and snow, Nov-Dec '96 The big snows 26" of snow in 4 days here. Dec '98 very cold down to 8 degrees, with several inches of snow. Feb '01, 13" of snow, March of '02, 10" of snow first of the month, then 8" on the first day of spring. Dec-Jan '04 Cold and snow. Several other wind storms like Jan '93, Nov 82 I think it was. And also the freak North blow in Oct of '03

I think 1990 was just a big old blast of arctic air, there was no low to our south needed to pull down the air, it just blew in hard. Don't know for sure though.

I have only been here for 2 years... we came from San Diego (way too boring) where we moved after we left Minnesota. I studied the weather of Western Washington in amazing detail before moving here.

I have been fascinated with weather since age 3. I could hand-draw weather maps of the U.S. by age 5. I would do mock newscasts for my parents at age 8 complete with all the weather information they wanted to hear.

Yet I am a software consultant... not enough money in weather. I just love watching and learning about the weather.

I annoy my whole family (my wife, my parents, my sister, all my in-laws) with weather forecasts. They will tell you that I am WAY too excited and that I tell them storms are coming only because I want it to happen. So I have tried to become more objective. Then I meet all you guys and realize what a total lack of objectivity sounds like!!

I am a very optimistic person by nature. You guys think factual reporting is negative... not so.

Hey Tim...I`m not too far ahead of ya there in terms of being interested in weather. My interest started at age 4! And apparently, at the young age I was...I predicted rain 30mins before it happend! And sure enough, it rained! Now mind you..guess I had looked out the kitchen window to which I some how knew it was gonna rain. -- Andy

The radar is almost completely blank... we can sleep well tonight knowing it is not snowing ANYWHERE.

Precip in Oregon is completely falling apart as it moves north.

Just like the models indicated.

There will be no flakes tonight. Except in here of course!!

Just kidding guys.

27 F with calm conditions. Clear skies allowing radiational cooling. Not much in the way of moisture...except northwestern Oregon. Surface low too far off the south Washington coast to send moisture bands northward. It's also weakening quickly. As for the extended, Tuesday/Wednesday still looks interesting. Keep the faith alive and PRAY!!! We need an arctic blast...we've had three opportunities that have yet to materialize.

Surprise... Surprise.

I was wrong.... and Mother Nature always has a way of making a person humble.

The NWS is quite surpised this morning as well.

Checked the latest models and I still think it will rain and then snow pretty good on Tuesday afternoon/evening.

Ironically... even though when I woke up my first thought was having to admit I was wrong... I am happy about the snow!!

We are heading out this later this morning so don't think my lack of response is from embarassment... I can admit a mistake.
