Winter not quite done with us yet! 8-)

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SEATTLE WA 415 AM PST SUN JAN 9 2005

YET ANOTHER COLD FRONT WILL SLIDE IN FROM THE NORTHWEST LATER ON TUESDAY...TURNING WIND FLOW BACK ONSHORE. INCREASING WESTERLY FLOW WILL FIRST CAUSE PRECIP TO DEVELOP OVER THE MOUNTAINS. ON THE FLIP SIDE...WESTERLY FLOW IS ALSO FAVORABLE FOR PRECIP SHADOWING OVER THE KITSAP PENINSULA AND THE CENTRAL SOUND DOWNWIND OF THE OLYMPIC MOUNTAINS. THE INTERESTING PART COULD HAPPEN JUST BEHIND THE FRONT AS ONSHORE FLOW PEAKS OUT AND COLD AIR STARTS TO MOVE IN. LOOKS LIKE A PUGET SOUND CONVERGENCE ZONE COULD EASILY SET UP OVER THE NORTH SOUND ON TUESDAY NIGHT. MEANWHILE...THE 06Z ETA IS SHOWING 1000-850 MB THICKNESSES OF ONLY 1290-1295 METERS...COMFORTABLY BELOW THE 1300 METER RAIN/SNOW CUTOFF. THIS ISSUE IS SURE TO BE RE-VISITED OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO. BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...ANOTHER CONTINENTAL POLAR HIGH PRESSURE CENTER WILL SET UP OVER THE INTERIOR OF B.C....BRINGING COOL DRY AIR FLOWING DOWN THE FRASER VALLEY AGAIN. WOULD LOOK FOR THURSDAY THROUGH NEXT SUNDAY TO BE SIMILAR TO MON THROUGH WED OF THE WEEK JUST PAST. THIS MEANS CLEAR COLD FROSTY NIGHTS WITH SUNNY DAYS. HANER

Still snowing here, and 29 degrees
Roads are horrific right now! Even 4wd having a hard time! Glazed ice under the compact snow and ice on all the roads, even I-5.

HOLY CRAP!!! That's all I have to say!!! HOLY CRAP!!! What happened?! Where did this surprise moisture come from?! There was NO moisture coming when I left for bed. We have about 3 inches in Mukilteo. Hopefully this stuff stays around and freezes tonight...NO SCHOOL tomorrow!! lol. I'm speechless at the moment!! Awesome!!! And next week looks pretty good!! More arctic air!!!

Well remember I mentioned last night that it looked like a solid round of precip down in Oregon, like I had a feeling, it moved on up!!! Sounds like tonight might be a pretty good freeze. Won't get warm today at all north of Seattle anyway! Also NE winds were stronger then thought, also Vancover BC is down to 19 degrees, the air has gotten colder up there!!!

Tuesday through Friday looks pretty cold...high temperatures in the 30s, low temperatures in the upper teens, lower 20s. I'm interested about the possible convergence zone Tuesday night...that usually hits Mukilteo hard. Possibly another 2-3 inches of snow?! lol. I prayed last night for snow...God answered my prayers!!

Latest GFS, it shows that we could possibly get a few more inches tonight. 8-)

Remember, King 5 is always conservative so when they come out and say more snow tonight, then you know there most be some likelihood.

I remember saying a few days ago I missed the winters when I would go to bed and wake up with a few inches on the ground. Well, it finally happened today. I think that's the best situation for snow. When you don't know it's going to happen, and you wake up very surprised.

NWS scared to say anything about cold next week
Funny how they don't even mention convergance zone or anything, nothing with the models have changed.....Funny when they don't mention it, and it happens.

Don't know why they don't believe it, models have been insistint on it!!

Also Don Carson just said temps to stay below freezing all day and night snohomish co north!

Don't listen to the Kam meteorologist. That person is ALWAYS VERY CONSERVATIVE when it comes to snow/cold weather in the lowlands. The best forecaster for lowland snow is Mercer. Though, latest GFS models do bring down alot of cold air...doesn't seem likely with a northwest flow aloft. I still think Tuesday night will be VERY INTERESTING. When you have daytime highs in the 30s, overnight lows in the 20s...there's ALWAYS the possibility of snow.
