Card Games

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Mon Jan 10, 2005 2:05 pm

So, what card games do you guys like to play?

My favorites are Blackjack, Go Fish, Old Maid, Texas Hold 'Em Poker, War, I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

My mom taught me not to gamble on some of the card games.

Skip-Bo is a card game that I started playing as a kid with my grandparents and it kinda grew on me. It's some luck but you win with great strategizing. I played recently so it was fresh on my mind. lol
I play a lot of other card games too.

You can read about it here. It's a fun family game for kids to adult.

Pitch, Scat, Hearts..in the poker world --> Texas Hold 'em, screw your neighbor, acey duecy, criss-cross, follow the queen, baseball, no peak.

My favorite: Scat --- dealt 3 cards (maintain 3, draw one-discard one on turn), deck in the middle (to draw from). In the same suit you try to get as close to 31 as possible, (that being scat). You can knock at 18, and everybody gets one more draw. Low man pays (start with 3 piles, whatever it may be--we usually use piles of quarters). On Scat you lay down immediately, everyone pays. when your 3 piles are gone, your out. Winner takes all!

Piles? How appropriate...given the name of the game.

Used to play gin rummy with my dad growing up and on camping trips. Sometimes Uno as well. My family doesn't care much for card games though. And I could never get the hang of poker! We're into board games more.
