The ticker chart is great. It's been proven that that specific visualization is a key factor to success in any endeavor.
Yahoo, j!
I'm on my way to the Y, so I'll weigh in there and report later on how much holiday excess I've got to pare off. Believe me, after all these months it won't be as easy to drop even a few pounds as it was when I was first starting to omit all the high "bad" carbs. I'm trying to take a positive approach, but I'm going to need some encouragement (and needling) from y'all, especially to get back into a regular exercise routine.

I'm hoping I can get into a walking routine-we have the treadmill. Most here know I had a serious wreck in February that injured my left leg, probably for life. I am definitely ambulatory, but the question is how much can it take and even though I have had rehab that question has yet to be answered. I'm going to be positive about it and go from there, as it readily tells me when I am overdoing. The walking has always helped the weight go faster in the past.

Would a stationary bike be a lil better for it?

I doubt it. The problem is the knee. Actually my ankle is part of it too, but since I am able to walk "normally" that is what I am going to try first. I figure if I can't handle the walking(I think I can-probably not as hard I would want to push myself though), I will talk to my doc and see what else he might suggest, since he has suggested the walking.

Great.. Hope it works out for you.. How about getting a walking stick or a cane for that side.. Just to take a lil of the pressure off that leg

vbhoutex, I wasn't aware of your accident (I didn't come on board here until Sept.). Thank goodness you're still here to tell about it! The best bet is to check with your doctor about exercise. I agree that walking and stair climbing seem to add extra power to dieting. Several non-walking types of exercise are helpful, too, such as the "Sit & Be Fit" program, the stretchy band routines like physical therapists use, and even your choice of dancing! My left hip socket is severely eroded (and has a bone spur, too) and the right one is beginning to act up, but I can still stroll along 3.2-3.6 on a treadmill most days. In fact, I just came back from a half hour of Nautilus work and 40 min. of treadmill. But I didn't weight myself -- I figured I'd wait until I woke up tomorrow, since I'm always "slimmest" then. (Yes, those of us with long-term issues with our weight have mindsets like that....

Normally it isn't bad enough that I need one(haven't yet), but like I said if I walk a lot it tends to start "talking" to me. I am going to try it and see how it goes. Going to start out real slow and go from there. I did some of the stationary bike in rehab so hopefully the walking will improve things instead of hurting them if I take it slow and easy and work up.

I didn't strt my walking this weekend, but my wife and I swear we are starting tonight!!! At least I dropped another pound!! It would have been more had I been better about watching my amounts this weekend.![]()
I did start the walking tonight. I am trying to keep a positive attitude about it, but I didn't make 15 minutes and I never went over 2 mph. I am going to see how I feel tomorrow and go from there.
