If I lost eveything, I'm gonna be sick. I had just decided to go through the thousands of emails I have and my Image Expert files where I keep all my digital pics and save the pictures on CD's. Years worth.
I need to go back to college and major in COMPUTER REPAIR FOR IDIOTS WHO BUY FROM THIEVES. I know some of you know, but about a year ago, I was planning on getting a Dell and I called a local, reputable computer shop about fixing the problem I had with my 4 1/2 year old (at the time) computer. After a few long discussions, checking them out more thoroughly, getting friends' opinions and calling our local college's department, I decided to let him rebuild my old computer and custom build me a new one. Everyone seemed to think that was the way to go. Long story short: It's all crap and has given me trouble since the beginning, even crappy monitors as well. He was supposed to fix everything but everything got put off until "tomorrow" - then he sold his business and moved off to the Philippines. I went through hell with the new owners who refused to return my money but said they would honor the warranty and fix everything. We decided to take care of one thing at a time and after one of my computers came back (the custom-built one), I had no java and it wouldn't let me install it, most of my programs were gone or not working correctly. They had emptied my Add/Remove programs list because it was empty, etc. It went back there 3 times and because I didn't know what else to do as they promised to fix it, they just kept making things worse. I finally got java back, without their help. They had changed something in the configuration or something and it wouldn't even let me install it. A friend helped me with that but his knowledge is very limited. Anyway, I was left with 2 crappy computers, 2 crappy monitors and out around $1500.
Problem after problem after problem...
The ironic thing is that my old generic Monorail that I was replacing because it gave me error messages often and because it was just getting old and slow performed much better (other than speed) than these new expensive toilet scum ones.
Ah well...live and learn. And here I sit with them because I don't know who I can trust to take them to. I thought that place was good. If I could find the scumbag who did this, I'd beat the crap out of him or die trying.
