Heh heh, this should be an interesting topic. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphicsprototypes.shtml
The NHC is considering changing their tropical cyclone track graphic for next season. They are seeking comments from users. I personally think the graphic that they're using now is just fine, but graphic option #3 on their page might not be too bad of an idea either. I personally think graphic option #2 is stupid.
I think if they're going to make any change at all, they should make a combination of graphic #1 and #3 so that the forecast points appear in graphic #3.
What do you all think about their different options for graphics?

I think they should leave it alone. This all goes back to Huirricane Charley, when every media outlet was calling for a direct hit on Tampa. They was determined that Charlley was going to hit Tampa. ALL ALONG Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda was well within the Cone, and in the Warning area. I blame the entire thing on the MEDIA, not the NHC Graphics. Period!

I'm sorry I missed the earlier thread on this topic. I would just like to say with all due respect that pulling the NHC Discussions is the WRONG thing to due. I can't amagine a world where the only look in the future I would have from the NHC would be "and this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours". I would be mad as &%&. Note that some of the same people pulling for this idea is the same people that would have access to these vital tools. Thanks for letting me vent.
