"OHIO RAIN"

#1 Postby carve » Tue Jan 11, 2005 10:30 pm

We have had some type of precip. 10 out of the 11 days of january..As warm front lifts north it should take some of the rain and storms with it.But then we have the cold front.Does anyone see the severe weather from this front coming this far north??

Im sure there will be some isolated areas with some thunderstorms as far north as Cincinnati. I dont see it coming much farther north then that. We saw some lightning and thunder tonight when the warm front came through. Things could change though. There will be a big difference in temps coming in so there could be some thunder this far north. We will see!

I am so sick of rain! If this had been all snow.....I have daffodils popping up already!

After the light rain began falling yesterday, it immediately pooled in my yard. It was not absorbed for hours, possibly over 12. That is how saturated the ground is here. Definitely not experiencing a draught in Cincinnati! More like a deluge. The Ohio River has only gone down mere inches since it crested well over flood stage yesterday. Usually it recedes quickly. Not this year. It's recession will be a slow event this time around.

Yep. It's pretty bad out your way Mary and will likely stay that way through Friday. In fact, the Great Miami River at Miamitown is going to go back above flood stage for the second time this week. Flood stage there is 16'...the river will crest near 22.5' tomorrow morning. At this level...homes just to the north of Miamitown will experience flooding.

The Ohio River will only get higher down there too. We are expecting crests near flood stage again tomorrow. Expect more flooding down there again!

Right now if I walk through my yard, I sink. Its like a marsh!

It hasn't rained here for hours now, can't quite count the sprinkles we've had, but there are still puddles all over my yard!

Here's a local news site for daily updates on the flooding, road closures, etc. if anyone is interested:
