Cold air adviction snows possible for the corn belt!!!

There's a small to moderate chance that by this weekend, a weak distrubance will track underneth the ridge and pull up some gulf moisture, but won't cause much of a warm up if an all, but it could cause up to several inches of snow in some places especially in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois. The timing looks to be from late Friday night/Saturday Morning, and lasting till Monday noon. Temperatures may fall some more after this minor storm. Details are still very vauge and hard to pinpoint, but there is a small possiblity of somthing occurring later in the weekend. More details as the event draws nearer.

This arctic blast has an extremely strong and slow moving high pressure pulling the subzero cold temperatures down into the Midwest. Highs in northeast wisconsin could not even reach zero on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then slowly warming up on Monday and Tuesday but still in the single digits...we have about 2-3 inches of snow on the ground and that will increase albedo and will cause the temps to be colder. Lows for the night around -20*F. Wind chill advisories and/or high wind warnings will be in affect for Thursday, Friday and Saturday as this high pressure moves through.

Good call on this, I think it has a very good chance of verifying. Moisture will be lacking but upper dynamics should be good enough to squeeze out a few inches. Snow:liquid ratios will be very high since it will be so cold (perhaps up to 20 or 30:1).

I am looking for some "surprise" 1-3" snow amounts tomorrow somewhere in IL, IN and MI with a mini-deformation zone associated with the powerful upper low. I believe you called this a few days ago Goth and I called you out. It remains to be seen if this verifies, but I may have to get down on my knees and bow.

In any case, snow is the least of our worries here - if we see rain amounts as high as 2" tonight here in Lafayette overnight, we'll probably start making national news as a major flood occurs on the Wabash River. To top it all off, a local man went missing last weekend. His truck was found in a flooded field adjacent to the Wabash (after it had decreased some from it's crest last week). They are considering him dead, but his body could really be anywhere in the Wabash, Ohio or even Mississippi river by now. I still hope they find him alive, but the chances are so slim considering how cold the water is (assuming he was actually in the river).
