I almost had a nervous breakdown

#1 Postby Terry » Thu Jan 13, 2005 11:54 am

I put on my TV this morning and put on TWC and it was..........well, GONE, hijacked, not there on good 'ole channel 33 on cable.

I looked and looked and couldn't find it any where.

OMG, no pictures of the unfolding severe weather events. I started shaking.

I searched up and down the channels. No Jim Cantore or Mike Seidel. I started hyperventilating. And searching, searching.

No P. Allen Smith (well, that one didn't bother me too much.)

Finally, just when I thought I was going to have to check myself into the hospital, I found it. Phew.

WHY, WHY would my cable company move TWC? It seems to be the only channel they moved. Jeez.

I know I will continue to have fleeting moments of panic when I automatically use the #33 on the channel changer. Please, please, please wise cable gods, do not change CNN or Food TV. That will be way too much for me to handle.

TWC here has been on channel 3 for as long as I can remember. Cox will change the other stations lineups but TWC always stays on channel 3

The Weather Channel

On June 20th, TWC here has moved from channel 55 to 37.

Did your cable company tell you the changes in advance Terry?

I know... I was joking. I hardly watch them anymore. They aren't what they used to be, I can get the radar or current observations off the internet a lot faster.

Good thing Comcast in Irving carries WeatherScan Local.

Yep, TWC seems so outdated now. I don't pay attention to their forecasts, but I do like to watch their live reports. And when I am not in front of my computer or TV, I can at least hear their weather reports.

They need to re-vamp their entire format and services or just start showing new "storm stories" for 24/7.

"What is TWC?".......LOL!!!!

Terry - I hated when cable would to that to us. Just change things with no warning. Well, there probably were warnings, but I didn't read those handouts that came with my monthly bills!!!

Now we have Dish and like it much better. While I miss my local wx forecasts (always will miss that) and my beloved Soapnet channel, we gained so much more. More money for one thing - Sat. is cheaper than cable, if you start at the lowest tier. We've increased our package to include 2 TV's now, local channels and a DVR receiver. I'm almost getting rusty at programming our old VCR, on an upstairs TV without anything but bunny ears and local channels (that TV is collecting serious dust now!).

And I did laugh when you said you didn't miss P. Allen Smith much - if you had, well, then maybe you'd need help as Brent said!!!! He needs to be on HGTV, not TWC.
