Arctic front...what arctic front?

#1 Postby Johnny » Fri Jan 14, 2005 3:58 pm

Pretty boring discussion out the Houston/Galveston NWS office this afternoon.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
245 PM CST FRI JAN 14 2005

.DISCUSSION...
NOT MUCH TO WRITE ABOUT. HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS WILL
PUSH EAST TONIGHT. A SECONDARY SURGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL DROP INTO
THE PLAINS SUNDAY EVENING. BASICALLY...WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET.
TEMPERATURES GENERALLY IN THE UPPER 50S TO LOWER 60S...OVERNIGHT
LOWS IN THE 30S. MID-HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS WILL STREAM ACROSS THE AREA
THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON. WEAK 500 MB LOW NEAR BAJA ON SUNDAY WILL
GET CUT OFF AND RETROGRADE WESTWARD THROUGH TUESDAY. THIS WILL ALLOW
A WEAK RIDGE TO AMPLIFY OVER TEXAS...MAINTAINING A WEST-NORTHWEST
FLOW THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF NEXT WEEK. HIGHER HEIGHTS AND AN
ONSHORE FLOW WILL LEAD TO A GRADUAL WARM-UP EARLY NEXT WEEK.
