I mentioned New England on my list. It just does not happen as often as a North Carolina or Florida hit. But, it happens sometimes. I had a weird dream too. I have been having reoccurring dreams of an intense Betsy like hurricane hitting my town. I had a dream in Sept or Oct that it was Christmas Day and it was snowing. And on Christmas Day, it actually did snow! First time my area has seen any snow fall in 15 years!

I voted for the East Coast of Florida. I suspect that we may see a similar setup with a blocking ridge north of the Bahamas. EVen though it's way too early it's fun :-)

By the time the eye arrived over New Orleans, they got only 105 miles per hour gusts. It was the water that destroyed the city then, not the wind. I was not even close to being born for Betsy. But, my mom and dad were teenagers in high school when they went through it. My mom lived in Thibodaux and got winds up to 125. My dad was closer to the coast down in Cut Off and they got winds up to 150.

I live 60 miles southwest of New Orleans. During Andrew, we were only 30 miles east of the eye. New Orleans hardly got anything. While we were experiencing winds in the 100 mph range here.

Oh, but we did! No, we didn't get a direct hit. Andrew went in over Morgan City - not that far from here. It got sporty here for sure.

One other choice that should have been on the list

Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.

This was the first year since 1998 that Canada has not received a direct hit from a tropical storm or a hurricane (Nicole became extra-trop before reaching)

your a busy man  I agree though with what you said but the pattern last year didn't allow for that scenario so if the pattern is similar then it won't happen again will it??

Florida can be hit any year, as history shows - whether it's an active year like last or an inactive year like 1992. There's always a big ridge out there at *some* point during the season. All it takes is a storm to spin up and ride it. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

Thank you for all that voted in my poll. If you have not voted yet, feel free to do so at anytime. Now, we got to see what actually happens when the season rolls around June 1st. Only a little more than 5 months away! It will be here before we know it! East Coast of Florida got the most votes. It is a likely possibility it may happen, just never know. Or North Carolina could also see a hit. If anything does cross over the east coast of Florida, then we will have to see a second landfall. (That usually happens to be the Florida panhandle or southeast Louisiana.) But, thanks on all who gave feedbacks. I really love to read all the different opinions. Comments are still welcome at anytime.

Providence Rhode Island is on the top of my list. I see a cane roaring up Narragansett Bay. The wealth must be shared with our Yankee cousins. Time New England had a cane......MGC

Yeah I believe the EC of Fla might be the bullseye again this year.I think that Bermuda high will be a huge player again.

Hurricane on East Coast

#39 Postby angelwing » Tue Jan 18, 2005 3:29 pm

Just a funny feeling, but the East Coast (NJ area) hasn't really been hit with anything in a while. I have a sinking feeling that it will be.
