Since I only work on Saturday and Sunday, and go to school Monday through Friday, my weekend is as follows:

Saturday :rarrow: OFF from work (gave me a normal work day off! :) However, I have LOADS of stuff to get done for school.

Sunday :rarrow: Work from noon to 4pm. Again, when I am home, it is schoolwork.

Monday, I am usually off of work, and due to MLK Jr. day, my univeristy is closed. :) But, as with Sat and Sun. I will be working on my school assignments.

I am off too , it is a school holiday. When students are out I have a day off. In Feb we will not have President's day off though, it is our last make-up day for the days we missed due to the hurricanes that hit my area.

Only people I know that are off on Monday are students/teachers and bank employees. My husband has never been off on MLK or President's Day, for that matter. Years ago when I worked full-time at a surgeon's practice, we were never off for MLK. Heck, we worked half days (until mid-afternoon) on Dec. 24th! We were lucky to get off on Christmas Day!

I even think our garbage is collected that day too (we're a Monday pickup on our street).

Not I. I'll be at work bright and early Monday. Our company has made it an "optional" day off (ie, you can use your 1 personal floating holiday for MLK if you so choose, but must be approved in advance by your supervisor).

I chose to use my 1 personal floating holiday another time.

I have to work, but Husband is off, he works for the County, which goes with State holidays. He had Friday and Monday off for Christmas and New Year's while I had only the Fridays off. But if you work for Orthopaedic Surgeons, people get hurt every day of the week.

I do get Mardi Gras off! He has to work...oh well.....life is tough!

As a casino employee, we get only two days a year -- Thanksgiving and Christmas. All other holidays are considered "high-volume days" so it's on to work as usual...
