The melting has begun!!
Slushy this morning as the snow begns to melt. Lots of dripping going on with a temperature of 34 degrees.
It was a fun aftenoon and evening. We got to play in the snow and it was awesome to see the landscape so thorougly covered.
But I would imagine by noon most of it will be gone with a predicted high here of 47 degrees.
Oh well...

Heading out to go skiing again.
9 inches of new snow at the summit... 34 inch base.
All of which will be completely destroyed this week. Ughhhh.
Must go now before it closes down again. No sense in sitting here watching our 5 wonderful inches of snow disappear (its going fast).
Have a good guys...

Well lastest PNA forecast continues the trend that has been shown for the last couple of days now. Now its showing more ensembles models going deep negitive then yesterday, and none in the positive by the end of the month. Something to look foreward to! Remember winters not over folks! As I was recording news storm coverage from past storms, the one in Jan 1996 was at the end of Jan-first of Feb, with very cold temps and snow. So we are no where near the end being only Jan 16th. Next week will be NOT GOOD for the mountains anyway! Freezing level by tomarrow up to 8,000 FT.

Warming up quickly here on the east side now. Up to almost 43. Looks very wet the next 5 days and beyond. 5 day precip outlook shows very wet. Almost 9 inches for the west side of the Olympics and 6-7 for the western slopes of the Cascades. I'll take the precip anyway we can get it since there isn't going to be much of a snow pack to get water from next summer.

Anthony, here is the PNA for winter 1995-1996 notice when we had the arctic blast of Jan 96 the PNA was negitive, but not off the charts, so as long as its neg, we typically are in good shape.

This one here is winter 1985-86 You can see Nov was the big one, then remember we had no winter after that really

Also look at the AO, if that is negitive with PNA at same time, I think that is much better for us also.
Looking at the AO forecast, it could possibly be fairly negitive at the same time at the end of the month. That would be great for us, even though we had a PNA that was tanked, the AO was almost off the charts on the positive side, so maybe that is why we didn't get hammered this time around. Also interesting to see some past charts here they are..........
Here is winter 1988-89 Very cold for an extended time Jan-March LK Goodwin frozen deep, people driving 4wheelers on it.

I remember 96'-97' very well. It was so cold and snowy and our power went out. We had gotten 3' of snow and there were ice-cycles hanging from the telephone wires. My heating bill for Jan-Feb was 700.00 dollars, needless to say the summer following, I had the heating changed over to Gas.
P.S. I lived in Mukilteo
