We're back from skiing. 14 degrees at Snoqualmie Summit with freezing rain. A total mess. The new snow is already icy. We decided to come home. I-90 is bad until right before North Bend.
Here it is one big slushy mess. I actually can't wait for this to finish melting. Ground is still covered with snow but going fast.
I feel like I got my heavy snow... had my fun... and I am O.K. if we do not return to a winter pattern this year.
We will see what happens.

TT-SEA,
Thanks for the info on the Cascade passes. I planned to snowboard at Stevens Pass tomorrow, but it doesn't sound very good. 14 F with freezing rain?! Wow, that layer of cold air must be pretty shallow. How much new snow did they receive?
Anthony
Currently 47 F!!!! It hasn't been this warm since before Xmas.

The latest 12z GFS shows the POSSIBILITY for a colder airmass to invade the Pacific Northwest after hour 360, but it's not looking likely at this moment. A ridge of high pressure is parked along 135W, which is not conducive for arctic air to funnel down from BC. If that high were to retrograde further west to about 145-150W, then it would be a different story. Pretty zonal flow setting up after day 7.

They had about 9 inches of new snow up there. But it was terrible with the ice. They will most likely be closed next week with all the rain coming.
Just drove to Issaquah (and back) and saw the rain/snow line from last night. Exactly 5 miles west of North Bend... up a hill... and right at the exit for Snoqualmie Falls (exit 25) we went from snowbanks along the freeway and snow on the ground to nothing at all. The cold air was just trapped around North Bend and kept getting fed by a cold east wind off the Cascades.
Even though the snow is melting fast... you could still tell precisely where the switch to snow happened as you moved towards the Cascades on I-90 last night.
Just a slushy mess here... bare ground in spots where the wind blew it down and snowbanks around. Water just running down the street now with the melting snow.
I wish it was gone now... and it will be by tomorrow morning.
