Low temps in Northern Plains this morning...wow!

Well...this morning was quite a bit colder...in fact, Embarrass got within 6 degrees of Minnesota's all time record low!

Just thought I'd chime in....I live in northern MN and YES IT WAS COLD!!!

I live just outside of Duluth and it was -35. Which is very uncommon, especially next to the big pond of Lake Superior! If we were away from the lake, it would have been -50 or below, like Embarrass was!

You learn to live with it- start your car 15 minutes before you have to drive, watch out for black ice (been a problem since this cold snap started last week), etc. Schools were in session today here, although a few were cancelled. There's really no wind to speak of, so the air temps are pretty much what they are, not much windchill factor.

I have one heck of an ice dam on my house (due to the big snow we had prior to the cold snap). Anyone got any quicky tips on how to start alleviating that problem???

Good news- tomorrow is supposed to be 15-20 above zero for highs!!
