THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE TENNESSEE BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION.
NORTH CAROLINA HAS ISSUED A EAST TENNESSEE CHILD ABDUCTION AMBER ALERT.
BRIANNA CANTER IS AN 11 MONTH OLD WHITE FEMALE, 27 INCHES TALL, AND WEIGHING 18 POUNDS. SHE HAS REDDISH BLONDE HAIR, BLUE OR GREEN EYES, AND WAS LAST SEEN WEARING A LONG SLEEVE FLOWERED TEE SHIRT AND GREEN PANTS.
PAUL CANTER IS A TWO YEAR OLD WHITE MALE, 33 INCHES TALL, WEIGHING 28 POUNDS. HE HAS BLONDE HAIR, BLUE OR GREEN EYES, AND WAS LAST SEEN WEARING A WHITE LONG SLEEVE TEE SHIRT AND BLUE OVERALLS WITH ORANGE LINING.
THE ABDUCTOR, WHO IS ALSO THE FATHER, IS JAMES CANTER, A 28 YEAR OLD WHITE MALE, 5 FOOT 6 INCHES, 160 POUNDS, WITH BROWN HAIR AND BROWN EYES. HE IS ALLEGEDLY ARMED WITH A HANDGUN.
JAMES CANTER IS ACCOMPANIED BY ALISHA ANN CHAMBERS, AN 18 YEAR OLD WHITE FEMALE. SHE IS 5 FOOT 2 INCHES, 133 POUNDS, WITH BLOND HAIR AND GREEN EYES.
THE ABDUCTOR'S VEHICLE IS AN EIGHTIES MODEL TWO DOOR, WHITE VINYL ROOF AND WHITE BODY CAR, POSSIBLY A FORD.

FBI Joins In Search For N.C. Couple Sought in Kidnapping

BOONE, N.C. -- The FBI is now involved in the search for two young children and the parents who allegedly kidnapped them at gunpoint last weekend.
Watauga County Sheriff Mark Shook says the FBI entered the case once James Lee Canter and Alisha Chambers crossed state lines. Shook says any time there are sightings, the FBI is helping local authorities follow up. He says tips are turning up nationwide.
Authorities say James Lee Canter brandished a gun when he and their mother, Alisha Chambers took the children from a foster home in the Valle Crucis area. Neither the couple nor the children had been found as of Tuesday morning.
Shook says the couple was seen just over the state line in Johnson County, Tennessee, on Saturday. But all Tennessee authorities found was their cream-colored Mercury Cougar containing a rifle and a handgun matching the description given by the children's foster parents.
