No rain here this morning either. Just some cloudy skies. Temp wise....it`s very spring like! 57 degrees here at 7a.m with humidity 100%. Hmmmm...wouldn`t be supprized if we get in the low 60`s for a high today. -- Andy

63F right now and partly cloudy skies. If it can't be cold and snowy then this is the next best thing. I doubt any areas will hit 70, but it would be pretty interesting to see especially in mid January.

We've already got a debate on possibility of colder weather in the extended. Two extremes; TT-SEA is screaming NO SNOW...as usual. And Snow_Wizzard is screaming SNOW, SNOW...as usual. I'll split it down the middle and say cooler weather after day 10 with snow levels down to 1000 feet. 500 mb heights do lower considerably...down to 522. But that's not cold enough for lowland snow. The extreme long-range models indicate a possible trough moving down from BC...we'll see. It's too far out. Very pleasant day today...about 60 F with VERY windy conditions. Wind gusts up to 40 mph. Looks like a VERY wet pattern this weekend...another pineapple express?!

That is EXACTLY what I have been saying. Cooler... low snow levels... but no lowland snow.

That is not really splitting the difference. Thats agreeing with me 100%!!

Currently 67 degrees an Sammamish!!!!

Well I did a little checking of the records at work. We keep a daily weather log there, and it dates back to 1991. This is what I found for Feb cold and snows........

1993 Starting on the 18th and lasting though the end of the month we had 2" of snow, and a low temp of 17 degrees, snow cover stayed on the ground until March 2nd.

1995 in the middle of Feb we had 3" of snow, and the snow cover lasted 6 days, coldest temp was 20 degrees

1996 First part of Feb we had 6" of snow on the ground, and the snow cover lasted from Jan 19th through Feb 6th. Coldest temp was 14 degrees

2001 middle of Feb, we had 13" of total snow, with snow cover on the gound for 8 days. Lowest temp was 24 degrees

2002 first part of Feb we had 6" of snow, and snow cover for 6 days. Lowest temp was 23 degrees.

So it sure can get cold and snowy in Febuary! It doesn't really need to be arctic air to get a dumping of snow, look at '01, and '02!

I do think we will see quite cold temps, and more snow in the lowlands this time around!! I am holding firm on that.

CPC didn't say a whole lot today, but they have dropped us down to normal temps for 6-10days, and below normal temps for the 8-14 day period, they also say this, don't know what it means though......

IN EUROPE...COLD AND STORMY CONDITIONS ARE FORECAST AS A DEEP CLOSED LOW ALOFT SETTLES OVER THE REGION. NEARLY ALL MODELS HAVE CONSIS- TENTLY FORECASTED A STRONG RIDGE UPSTREAM NEAR THE COAST OF WESTERN EUROPE...WHICH WILL TAP INTO SOME VERY COLD AIR.

Also forgot to say last night was wild here in the Stanwood area! We lost power for 2hrs, we had a couple of very oddly poweful gusts that seemed to come out of no where!!! Must have been at least 50MPH! Seemed like a very low pitch to the wind gusts, hard to explain, but it didn't sound like the typical wind gust. Almost sounded like thunder!!!

That pretty much sums it up. At least we did get our record breaking temperatures this winter, only it was on the opposite side of the spectrum.

I took off my jacket for once today...first time since before Xmas. Unbelievably warm today!!! It feels like April!! Looks like that baroclinic band is starting to sink south...expect the rain to increase. As the baroclinic band moves south, winds should start to increase. It seems that if an area is located just south of the baroclinic band, the winds really increase. R-Dub, here in Mukilteo we had a period of wind gusts up to about 50 mph also. It lasted from about 4-6pm yesterday evening. We lost power for a few minutes, but it was quickly restored. As for this weekend...another pineapple express. This looks more moist than our current system. Unbelievable. We could see record flooding this weekend!!!

Well the 18Z GFS is looking much better for cold, but until we see something more definite, I am not going to hold my breath for cold and snow, but I do think it is a definite possibility.

So what do you all think of the pineapple express for the weekend? Will it lead to similar flooding or worse?

Bare spots are popping up now, even just from this morning there are quite a bit more. And if tonight's rain is heavy enough I bet there will be almost no snow left tomorrow.

And that is why the flooding this weekend might not be as bad, since there is not as much snow to melt.
