That must have been so scary! I was at a horse show once where a horse inside a trailer spooked and launched himself halfway through his open window... I've never heard a horse scream like that- you could tell all the other horses at the show were on edge... The fire dept had to come and use the jaw of life to tear the trailer apart and get him out.. Like that article said, things just happen with horses.. Must be that fight or flight instinct.

True - they're not the smartest creatures around, and oddly enough, they're pretty delicate for they're size. You'd think a 1500 lb. animal would be pretty tough, but it doesn't take much for a horse to go down, and darn fast.
