.PREVIOUS DISCUSSION...
THE FOLLOWING WAS ORIGINALLY ISSUED AT 640 PM EST THU JAN 20 2005

SHORT TERM (TONIGHT)...

AM STARTING TO GET REPORTS OF SNOW UP CLOSE TO 4 INCHES ACROSS PARTS OF SOUTHEAST INDIANA AND SOUTHWEST OHIO. COULD SEE A BRIEF BREAK IN INTENSITY AS CURRENT BAND PUSHES SOUTHEAST. HOWEVER...LOOKS LIKE SNOW CURRENTLY UP ACROSS NORTHERN INDIANA IS ASSOCIATED WITH SECONDARY S/W AS DEPICTED BY THE 18Z MESOETA. THIS SHOULD MOVE ACROSS AREAS WHERE HEAVIEST SNOW HAS ALREADY FALLEN LATER THIS EVENING. AS A RESULT...HAVE UPGRADED A NW TO SE SWATH OF COUNTIES ACROSS CENTRAL PORTIONS OF FA TO A WARNING FOR 4 TO 6 INCHES OF TOTAL ACCUMULATION. JGL

They do look to be under the gun there. Have a look:

I'm hoping Gatlinburg will be in the middle of a blob of snow sometime this weekend. 8-)

My husband was on the way to the airport from near Greensburg, IN to Cincinnati. He said the roads were horrible and that cars were just slipping off. He was talking to me and his cell phone went dead. I hope it was just the battery.
We get to leave very early a.m. to drive in this stuff. I thought it wasn't going to snow until Sat.

A whole lot of others in SW Ohio did too, kris. I hope your hubby just hit a bad cell and you'll be talking to him again soon. You know, weather can wreak havoc on wireless transmissions.

Stay safe, and warm....and let us know how your travels go.

Well this was a surprise snowfall, in accumulation. We kept hearing it would be very light, 1 inch or less spaced out over the entire day. Wrong! Still snowing in fact. I'd estimate we have 3 or 4 inches on the east side of town. Interstates were a slow-go at evening rush hour and numerous accidents were reported. One was a 6 car pileup, that closed a major east/west route. So all in all, yeah we were surprised. We also have been hearing about the Friday night into Saturday storm. So I don't think anyone thought twice about this snowfall today. Until it really picked up and an advisory was posted. Suddenly, schools closed early and cancelled evening games and activities.

My girls are off tomorrow anyway, in service day. This would have given them a snowday I think.

So given the fact that both clippers #1 and #2 have been underestimated, what does that say about clipper number three?

Clipper #3 does worry me now!

It is still snowing at my house! Crazy - now they're saying 4 - 7 inches. When it was supposed to be a dusting up to an inch!

I'm most worried about the timing of C #3. We still plan on going skiing in SE Indiana, a 45 minute drive from my area, eastern side of Cincy. Just hoping to be back home tomorrow night, when it all starts up again.

Almost hate to say this outloud - third time's a charm?

So yeah #3 worries the heck out of me! But I am stocked up on groceries and cars are all gassed up. Let's just see how it pans out.

I am seriously thinking about cancelling my trip, but I am supposed to read at the funeral and I would regret not going.
Dh is still at the airport in Cincinnati (he did make it there okay) but his flight has been delayed over and over. The next scheduled time is 10pm. If he makes it then, it will be 12am before he gets home, only to get up at 3am to get ready to drive tomorrow back up north.
OR, he could just fly to Cleveland, but that means I drive from Charleston, SC to Cleveland by myself with 5 kids and a dog in God only knows what kind of weather.
This is not good, not good at all. I really don't know what to do.

It's going to snow in Northwest New Jersey, starting in the morning and really heavy afternoon through Sunday Morning.

I don't think so, are you serious or just joking. If anything I want the snow to wait until the early evening to evening hours, because I leave early afternoon. It's not that far, just an hour and 10 minutes unless there's traffic.

It is only snowing in SW Ohio. Weve had a few flakes here at my house and I'm roughly 30 minutes from Interstate 77. That coridor should be ok tomorrow until the system comes through. Looks like it will be light accuulations tomorrow night. Heavy stuff comes in Saturday. Going home might be a different story.

Snow over for round #2, or Clipper #2!

4 inches at my house, east-side of Cincinnati.

Noticed TWC had on a local newsanchor, not local Met, for about 5 minutes today giving updates on snowfall totals, school closings (Cinti. Public closed, that's a ton of schools within city limits), road conditions, etc. That was impressive! This surprise snowfall made the news at TWC!!!! Woohoo!!!!

And now we brace ourselves for round #3, or Clipper #3!

Yeah it was a total surprise. Heck all of the local mets admitted that this forecast didn't go like it was supposed to. But now we get to wait for Clipper #3. This one will be BAD.

BTW got about 4.5" out of this at my home in Florence.
