Do you have Glasses,Contacts or Perfect Vision?

I inherited my Dad's stigmatism and due to near-sightedness have worn glasses since the 4th grade. Tried soft contacts for a short while but it was a real strain and 'feverish' job just to get them in...even with help from my Mom at times! I said NEVER again to the contacts idea!

I envy peeps with perfect vision...not talking about lasik procedures either!
Not having to get off oil and debris almost daily to just see through clear lenses!!

I've worn glasses since 3rd grade then wore contacts. I had lasik 4 years ago and now have 20/20 vision. Best thing I ever did.

Blind as a bat. Contacts and glasses both since 2nd grade. With a script of 20/400, had big-time coke-bottle lenses as a child. You can imagine the teasing I got in school...

I wore glasses and contacts for years but had lasik surgery about 2 yrs ago. Best thing I ever did.

BUT what's the chance/risk that a lasik procedure could fail or somehow reverse later on in the future...even though they're a pain in the neck at times...I think I'll keep my glasses. I don't like the thought of a machine light ray messing with my retinas, irises, corneas, etc.

Shortly after that picture was taken (in which I looked HORRIBLE), I decided to get contacts, if anything, to avoid looking like a dork. I'm just about to get my renewed license, and the picture, while not great, is significantly better than the last driver's license picture of me.

Today's glasses styles though are alot more preppy looking...the older American Graffiti looking frames are history.

Seriously, I could probably do before-and-after photos. The first one obviously of me in glasses, and the next one with contacts in. It would be an almost night-and-day difference.

I had to get glasses when I was 21, need them before than but was too stuborn to do it. Then as I have aged beautifully (haha) I need them to read anything, even the remote control on the TV and VCR. So I have trifocals now and like azskyman said, 3 different steps to take up a flight of stairs. When I first got them people at work said I looked like I was drunk when I was walking, was hard to get used to, but I did. I also have a stignatism and night blindness.

My brother and ex sister-in-law had Lasik surgery when it first started and they have loved it. My father in law and a close friend had it a couple of months ago and both have had to go back and have it done again. Wonder if the technique has changed?

I wear contacts during the day and I'll put my glasses on before bed. I do not like wearing my glasses so they're only for around the house after I take out my contacts.

I've wondered about Lasik surgery. Last year my doctor said I could be a candidate if my vision didn't change by my next appointment. I'm going back to see her soon. I gotta admit though...I'm a little scared of any kind of surgery involving my eyes even though it would be wonderful to get rid of the nuisance of contacts/glasses.

What happens if your vision gets worse after you have the surgery? And does anyone know how long they've studied any long term side effects?

Sorry gang, in the minority here ... 42 years old, perfect 20/20. Hope to be able to say that in another 10 yrs.

Although when I was in 1st grade a kid poked me in the eye (on purpose ), and I developed strabismus (lazy eye). Had to wear glasses for 1 yr to help the eye muscle heal and strengthen. I still have some trouble looking through binoculars without my eye feeling like it's going crossed.

Four eyes, but I used to wear contacts.

I had a consultation for lasik surgery, but they said I couldn't get it done if I have hypothyroidism.

What is the issue with hypothyrodism if you don't mind me asking. I was going to start seriously looking into lasik, but I have hypothyroidism as well.

Have worn glasses since I was six, for a few years around the age of 9 was in bifocals. Have worn contacts or glasses since then. Would like to know what perfect vision is....
