I can't believe that they won't close that branch, Johnathan!! I hope she doesn't live too far from the bank.

Anyway, there's nothing like a good blizzard! :D

I went to the grocery store on the way home from work - WHAT A ZOO!!

Work Travel Blizzard

#6 Postby roebear » Fri Jan 21, 2005 9:11 pm

I have to work the weekend also at a 24/7 plant. Warned manager Wednesday to expect a blizzard this weekend. Were they prepared today? No, instead, worse prep than usual for weekend!

I only have to travel a few miles, made it home Sunday night in 96 Blizzard (Jan6-8) but the windblown drifts (10-15ft) in the countryside the next morning kept me and my 4WD from making it back to work until the following Wednesday.

Guarantee I'll make it home Saturday night, I'm good with my vehicle for about 25" of powder, but if we get wind, and it sure looks like we will(!), I might not make it back in for Sunday or Monday :D

Probably your sister will make it home OK (I pray she does) on Saturday, certainly if the bank closes around 3 or so. Sunday will be a "bankers holiday" for many in PA!

The grocery thing happens here whenever someone spits on the sidewalk and it freezes. MASS HYSTERIA...no bread, milk, or other necessities to be found at all.

Good luck, stay safe and warm!!

Me too...I got there just as the snow began, thinking it would be dead. Boy, was I wrong! I about ran into a thousand different people, then spent over 20 minutes waiting in line! Ugh...if I had been to the grocery after moving here, I would've waited until the weekend was over, but a man has to have his food!

Somewhat related... we'll be on the road most of tomorrow headed to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Some rain is possible during the last couple of hours of our trip. Wish us luck and also good luck with the snow(including everyone else that will get nailed worse). 8-)
