I was thinking the same exact thing looking at the radar. I figured we were done for after everyone had lowered their totals for the DC area and then seeing the dry lot development. Just a few minutes ago I took a peek at weather.com and they have now changed their forcast back to snow continuing through midnight for me here in Reston, VA with accumulations of 4-6 in. expected on top of the 4-8 they already said for today. This makes no sense to me. When I got up this morning and checked the forcast they said heavy snow ending around 6 and going straight to snow showers with little - no acculmation tonight and now 4-6 more inches. As you all can probably tell this is my first post here and I've only been reading the message boards here since all the talk developed earlier this week about this storm. Maybe someone who understands all this stuff can clear this up for me, because I just don't see how this is possible as storm appears to be almost done dumping snow in my area. Is that 4-6 what the coastal low will provide? I guess the thing is that I'm excited to see these new predictions that forecast more snow for NO VA, but the dry slot freaks me out.

Those who are still calling for the heavier amounts are banking on the low developing off Delmarva throwing backlash snows on MA but the precip may be too far offshore when it really gets crancking.

I live 30 miles south of newark and it is snowing very heavily right now. At least 3.5 to 4 inches on the ground. Weather.com said 10-15 of snow for today. 10-15 inches at night with strong gusty winds and a possible 3-5 inches on Sunday, particulary Sunday morning and the early afternoon hours.

Deeping of Delmarva low is just awesome. Never saw the yellow color in such a big bullseye. 9.2 mil drop in an hour!

Dry slot continues to move east. Back filled for awhile but on the move again.

Dry slot never stopped. I got about half of what was predicted. Precip rapidly breaking up over NJ and Philly's done. May be some wrap around later to make it respectable. At least the tailgaters for the Philly game should be let in at the scheduled 8:00AM opening on time.

A bust? Are you kidding me. Define bust. I think "bust" means less than two inches of snow...and if I'm correct, DC and Philadelphia got OVER six inches of snow. I definitely wouldn't call that a bust. And what about NYC and Boston? I called my aunt, who lives in Brooklyn, and they have 13 inches of snow on the ground and it's still snowing hard. And Boston is forecasted to receive almost 30 inches of snow. And this is a bust? I think not. Try the 1.5 inches of snow Seattle got two weeks ago...they were calling for 4-8 inches. Now that was a bust!!!

It is a bust for D.C. down throught Virginia as well as most of Maryland. Highest totals in the area are in Norteast Maryland where Bel Air picked up 8 inches. Other than that area it is a bust. D.C in at 3.3 on Capital Hill. 4 inches in Alexandria is the highest in Northern Virginia. Here in Fredericksburg, big bust, maybe one inch of snow topped with a half inch of sleet, that's it. It was the biggest heaviest snow I had ever seen, but it lasted less than 30 minutes. Lows here tonight between 0 and 10. Those effected by the storm enjoy and be safe.
