Is there any snow in the near future for the Southeast?

#1 Postby DLI2k5 » Sat Jan 22, 2005 3:24 pm

Does anyone see a scenario shaping up for the SE to get some good snow accumulations? I had seen in another board someone referring to data on the Euro models indicating we may have something shaping up for next weekend down here. Anyone think we have a shot of getting some snow here or is it not looking too good for the remainder of the winter. All of us southerners on here certainly would welcome it!

Yes, we would welcome it--but I'm not holding my breath. Beginning to suspect chances for (yet another) snowless winter are looking really good. :(

If only a low pressure would be in play for tonight, we would get at least something. Temps are supposed to be down to 33 degrees tonight. But, clearing skies. It has not even rained one drop here today. I got to see an inch of snow fall for Christmas and I was overjoyed! But, I wish we could get one more round before the winter is said and done.

Bastardi mentions the chance of ice for next weekend for the Carolinas. That's about as much as I've seen about chances for North or South Carolina.......Southeast....

I sure hope JB is wrong about the ice part and hopefully it'll change to snow! Yes, i want winter wx, but not in the form of ice, too dangerous for driving conditions and causes too many power outages. Going 3 days w/o power in my house last winter during the ice storm was enough ice for me then and still is for me now! Ice may be good for some folks and i'd be glad for them if they got their winter weather, esp. for those who haven't gotten any yet. I also, looked at the Old Farmer's Almanac and in the long range, mentioned that Feb. and March would be pretty cold and would give us some chances for some winter wx. Hopefully, that will come to prosper and we can all be happy in the South!
