I hope it is not too cold for the Mardi Gras parades

#1 Postby cajungal » Sat Jan 22, 2005 10:58 am

I hope that it does not get too cold for the Mardi Gras parade this Friday. I checked out the weather channel and they only give a low of 58. That is almost perfect. Because I can't tolerate standing out in the cold for very long. For the last 2 years in a row, Hercules got canceled because of severe weather. So, it looks like the weather will be fine this year so far.

I am mad because I always got to close at work. The parade starts at the mall in Houma at 6 p.m. (I work at the mall.) I don't get off until 9 p.m. So, I am going to have to bring an extra set of clothes to change into. (Probably will have to change in the car.) Then, rush to get downtown. That is my only chance of making it. The parade does not usually get to the downtown area until around 10 p.m. or so. :Partytime:

Just clicked on Accuweather and they changed the weather for Friday the 28th. Now, they give lows at 46. So, now I will have to go out with a jacket and be shaking outside the whole time. And be miserable.

Don't worry. The Brick house and plenty of other places will be selling a variety of beverages to keep you warm.

silk long johns under the costume?

#4 Postby Persepone » Sat Jan 22, 2005 3:59 pm

Silk long johns (sold for skiing) under the costume might work if costume is not the totally bare skin variety... it comes in flesh tones, as well as white, black, etc.

Very warm if you layer clothes on top...

Awww Cajungal, have a Hurricane or a shot of Tequela, that will warm you up and make you just like the rest of the fools at the parade. Mardi Gras is a time you have to experience to believe and man is it fun! (I don't use fool as a bad word)

I read somewhere that the grownups acted like little kids, thats what its supposed to be right?

It seems so early for Mardi Gras, but Fat Tuesday is so early this year. We went to the first Ball of the season on New Year's Eve, had a blast. My sister in law was the queen and she was beautiful!

Good luck and stay warm. It's hard to believe it will be in the 20's again Monday am as its 69 degrees here now. Biloxi had a parade at noon, I assume it was great weather for them. We had a 30% chance of rain, but so far, none has been seen.

Happy Mardi Gras! Catch some beads for me!

I am not wearing a costume! LOL. Just bringing an extra set of clothes because I don't get off work until 9 p.m. And I don't want to wear an ugly work uniform to go to the parades and to go out afterwards. I already picked out what I am going to wear. A quarter inch sleeve shirt and a pair of jeans. I will just have to add my leather jacket, too.

I plan on catching the parade by Brick house and I plan to go out there after the parade rolls through. What time do you think the parade will get to downtown? Because I don't get off work at the mall to until 9. Then, I have to do a quick change of clothes and a stop off at the daiquiri shop on the way. So, I probably won't get there until after 9:30 by the time we find a place to park and everything. I hope I still got time before it starts rolling through.

Cajungal, Hercules usually runs slow and does not make it until well after 10. Take MLK from the mall and come to Main Street the back way and you should make it in plenty of time. I use to work at K-Mart and had to close and usually made it.
