It's 6:00 a.m. and the wind is howling... Tons of snow... (no idea of actual snowfall amounts) since it is blowing and drifting--filled up breezway, has blown against windows/screens so it's difficult to see out the windows... But it is quite a storm!
We're warm and snug, but I can't imagine what it must be like to be caught outside in this storm. You have to wonder what it must have been like to be in a storm like this in the 1700s or 1800s.
I've seen a lot of bad winter storms and I'm really impressed!

hi
Does your snow seem wetter down there? We have to have 20 inches by now and a heavy band is just moving in from our north and another heavy band over central Mass. will have to move through later. As I type this we have a pure whiteout.

hi
It is really blowing hard, I'd estimate 30 sustained gusting to 50 or more. So far so good with power, I really expected to lose it last nite. I'm about 20 miles from the coast so I'm not getting max winds but they are the stongest I've encountered during a winter storm.

TV said 23" of snow at 6:30 a.m. More ferocious now...
Hi,
I think snow was fairly wet since blowing snow stuck to the windows, especially those with screens--and to sliders, so it's hard to see out the windows. Well over 2 feet of snow on the deck, but that may be due to drifting.
Trees are pretty bowed down with snow--even though it is blowing sideways. Strong wind gusts and power is bouncing on and off. Visits to board will be sporadic...
The wind is just howling around the house. Wind gusts seem very high.

Steph - I'm assuming that your hubbie got home safe and sound last nite?
Nantucket had a report of a wind gust of 72 MPH!!![]()
I take it Persepone, that you're in MA?
We had a good storm in my neck of the woods - about 14 - 15 inches of snow, but that's only HALF of what you guys are going to receive! BE CAREFUL!!

Yes he did! They left NYC at 2:15 and he didn't get home until about 7:00. It's normally a hour and a half to two hour drive. I was outside shovelling AGAIN when he pulled up. I went out twice to shovel - I was beat!!!
We ended up with about 14 - 15 inches of snow.
That was really nice of Persepone's neighbor. Cape Cod really was in the bull's eye of that storm. It must've been pretty wicked!
